citrus aphids, what are some good pesticides for aphids that may or may not be sold to the general public (i have a pesticide applicator's license)
actually they might be peach aphids, anyway i prefer systemics to contact pesticides

Chlordane.
Salt the motherfucking earth.
Nah, a acaricide like permethrin would be good but try to find something with a very short half-life. Neither Clordane nor the permethrins have short half lives if memory serves. Any of the pyrethrins would probably work, just make sure they're labeled for acaricide use. 12/7/2007 9:31:15 PM |

I hate aphids. I've had my hands covered with them suckering tobacco before because the gum acted like glue. maybe there won't be too many this year. 12/7/2007 11:09:06 PM |

um, thats why i mentioned that i would prefer a systemic
if i wanted to use contact chemical i can take my plants outside, spray them, and leave them outside for the duration of the indicated REI and bring back in
im not bringing ladybugs into my room, thats no good
and i dont know who the fuck Dale Gribble is, my applicators license is for my job and i was basically indicating that i can legally apply anything registered by the state of NC
faggot

insecticidal soap. no, its not systemic, but it's not poison either. you can buy the concentrated stuff and make a vat of it and just dip your plants into it. the bugs will die immediately. make sure you treat the soil too... 12/9/2007 3:12:49 AM |

I dunno if it will work, but you can try spraying with coffee and cayenne pepper....
I tried this and it seemed to help my outdoor tomatos. The cayenne pepper tho-- soak it in water then strain it, otherwise it will clog a spray bottle. 12/10/2007 8:47:35 AM |

thanks for the suggestions
i aint fuckin with methyl bromide regular soap and water does not work
I like the insecticidal soap drench idea, but i need multiple forms of control, id like at least three to rotate
the pyrethrins, the insecticidal soap, and one more...but im willing to try the chayenne pepper thing thatd be interesting
it sucks cuz now im starting to get sooty mold, and the fuckers are only attacking new leaves that have just broken bud 12/10/2007 8:59:37 PM |

^^^thanks, thats a good one
Ill go to HD nd find the product names
ive also reconsidered using lady bugs, im never in my room much anyway, i have a few assassin bugs on my plants from when i brought them in and they kill the shit out of caterpillars and loopers
i hope they are killin mealybugs, but mealy bugs arent that big of a deal, just a dab of alcohol kills those assholes

I have a lemon/lime tree? bush? It isn't doing so well so I moved it inside and it is in a spot with alot of light. I water it alot but I was wondering what I can do to make it grow/bushout more? possibly even sprout some limes? the leaves are slightly yellowing 12/11/2007 5:08:11 PM |
ZomBCraw Suspended 6999 Posts user info edit post |
thats all day length stuff
certain hours of light are required to produce flowers and im not sure if limes can create fruit without pollination like oranges can
also the light you have may not be enough, even if it looks bright it may not be anywhere near sufficient....if you want a plant to grow more bushy (shorter internodes, more sideshoots) use incandescent/red based light...flourescent/blue based light makes plants grow leggy (long internodes, terminal bud dominance)
if its dropping leaves it needs more light most likely...if you just moved the plant inside from outside then it is in shock, it may recover but you might lose any flowering potential it had...moving containers inside from outside and vice versa is a gradual process for temp, light, humidity, and pest control reasons...it should be aiight but like i said it probably wont waste any energy producing flowers
ALSO, make damn sure you dont leave lights on around it all the time, it needs periods of darkness for respiration which does things such as repair damage and manage stress, that might be why, do you leave lights on at night alot? its easy to ruin a natural cycle with even a little bit of light
sorry for the rant

remember most indoor lights are not full spectrum, and most modern glass blocks some wavelenghts of light 12/12/2007 9:33:19 AM |
ZomBCraw Suspended 6999 Posts user info edit post |
plants are unable to use a majority of the spectrum, green orange and yellow is for the most part reflected 12/12/2007 12:28:52 PM |

I read that you can pretty easily grow oranges and lemons indoors, but they are never worth eating. They will be very sour and bitter. 12/12/2007 12:56:24 PM |

the oranges that they grew inside at Weisger Brown on campus were always pretty good
maybe the oranges most people grow indoors are more of an ornamental variety
