walking, yes. running, no. ACL typically takes 6 months for recovery, and it's still not exactly the same. The confidence in the knee takes a little longer.

not only was cedric here for two years, even in his sophomore year he wasn't even halfway as polished offensively as JJ is now

I can't imagine JJ wanting to stay, particularly if we suck ass during the ACC season

What's up with this Wood kid?

I see we offered... according to Scout his only other offer is Saint Louis... unranked 3 star SG.

Anyone got a scouting report?

Yeah I read some of the reports from their recent games and the kid can shoot some 3's. Think he just broke the school record for career 3's at like 120 or something.

Single season record? 120 isn't that much. Shit, I played sparingly for 2 years at the varsity level and had 35+

Yeah we need a JJ Redick/Terrence Oglesby/Stephen Curry type guy that can shoot the 3. I think Sid realizes this and that's why he offered. I heard he's like A.J. Graves in that he may not have the size that a lot of coaches look for, but his shooting ability more than makes up for it. I know a lot of schools now wish that they had gotten Graves. Same goes for Curry.

He's only half way through his junior season and has 120 for his career and I don't know if he played as a freshman. In his game last Friday night he was 8-13 from 3-point range.

I meant 120 is a little low for a school... but that is impressive that he has that many already...

He probably didn't play FR year then... 120 is like 4 a game if you play a typical full season and make states.. a guy with his shooting rep can probably do that.

Here's the gym in which they play. It is the 7,500 seat Bill Green Athletic Arena. That's larger than a lot of Div. I schools' gyms. Could they make the M at midcourt any bigger?

You can see Mays at midcourt wearing No. 34.

Marion is a basketball power in the state of Indiana, despite being a town of only 31,320, they have won 7 state titles in their 100 year history, with the most recent one coming in 2000.

Some photos of Julius Mays and Scott Wood can be found in some of these galleries.

"“Julius, in a nutshell, is a winner,” Luce said. “That is the best thing I can say about him; he finds a way to get it done. He is a point guard who can score, but he is not concerned with scoring – not unless that’s what our team needs. He is great at reading the game and what is given to him.”

The perfect example came in recent back-to-back wins for the 5-0 Giants. Mays scored just 10 points, but handed out a dozen assists against Kokomo, then threw in 28 points (including 16-of-16 from the foul line) vs. Lawrence North.

His season high is 30 points. He is averaging 21.2 points, five assists and 3.5 rebounds, while hitting over 45 percent of his three-point attempts and 90 percent of his free throws."

We have offered 5* SG Lorenzo Brown. He's the #4 SG nationally for the 2009 class. Him and Wall would make a great backcourt.

In a recent article he said that Memphis was high on his list, but NC State has recruited him the hardest.

Quote :
"“I like Memphis right now,” he said. “My coach talks to them a lot, but I haven’t gotten to much yet.”

North Carolina State has also made him a priority and Brown cited their recruiting strategy and effort as the primary reason he likes the Wolfpack. “They just called me a lot and were recruiting me hard,” Brown said."

Saw Ravenscroft play at Word of God tonight.

CJ Leslie is sick. He gets to the rim whenever he wants and handles the ball very well. Plays with a lot of passion. He finished with 26 points (including the go-ahead bucket and free throw with a few seconds left on the clock) and probably 4-5 blocks. I was impressed considering the size that Ravenscroft has inside. I'd recommend going to check him out if you get a chance. Kid is going to be a stud when he's a senior.

I should also probably mention that he didn't start. He came out initially with street clothes on and his team got down by about 10. A few minutes later he came out with his uniform on and got into the game with about 3 minutes left in the 1st. No one really knew what was up with that. Maybe a minor injury?

Ryan Kelly also had an impressive 25 for Ravenscroft.

^ How do you figure? State's been just as much of a player as UNC from the beginning. I would say Wall will probably go to Memphis or State now that UNC no longer seems to be in need of a PG. Unless I'm misreading your post and you think Wall will be scared to go head-to-head against Strickland? Which I doubt would be the case.

i think wall ends up at nc state. i don't think he would be scared of competing against strickland, remember he just went head to head with Larry Drew who is heading to UNC next year and seemede to enjoy the competition.

i am going to see earnest ross play tonight @ cary high. ross is a 4star shooting guard at panther creek high school in cary/apex/morrisville/durham/whatever you call that area. he is a junior that has an offer from UNCW at the time, but NCSU, UNC, Clemson, Wake, UVa, VT, and a ton of other programs are looking at.

doubt we get serious about him unless we strike out on guys like lorenzo brown and noel johnson, but i hear ross is a stud. i will let ya'll know how he looks after the game (and probably after i get home from the bar).

^ He looks good but Scout's listed "areas of improvement" for him are all things we already struggle with. I realize Scout isn't the end-all of evaluations, but at the same time I'd prefer someone described as a pure shooter and good ball-handler, as we seem to be deficient in those areas.

Saw Earnest play earlier this year up at Sanderson. He's got a real strong body and can fill it up. He handles the ball pretty well and seems very mature on the court too. Good comparison to Nelson actually.

Seemed like he settled for pull-up jumpers too much when I saw him though. Let me know what you think.

oh and supposedly we look quite good for both John Wall and Lorenzo Brown. Both moms LOVEEEEE Sid and NC State. 2009 kids though, so they both have a lil time to play out their recruitments.

i think thats what sidney wants to do, and obviously you can not do it with javi gonzalez or a combo guard that is 6'4 or taller (johnson, fells).

if we could somehow lure Wall and Lorenzo Brown into joining the Wolfpack, I guarantee we would be uptempo. And you gotta believe that is what Sidney is selling these guys.

^^ It depends on what you want. If you want to go undefeated in conference play by beating up weak C-USA teams which will always get you into the tournament, but not be challenged until the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight then you'd want to go to Memphis. A lot of those games are on CSS and CSTV. If you want to become a legend in the ACC, college basketball's most prestigious conference, be tested by great players playing on great teams in great arenas, get a loss here and there that will help you when you come across a tough team in the tournament, then you'd want to go to State and the ACC. A top ACC team gets a ton of their conference games nationally broadcasted on ESPN, ESPN2, CBS, FSN, etc. Also the ACC tournament is watched by a lot of people all over the country. The same can't be said for the C-USA tournament.

I'd rather be ranked #2 and win on CSTV then lose by 30 on ESPN, but I get your point

Yeah I understand why a player would want to go to Memphis, especially right now, but if you make it in the ACC, people will remember you for a very long time. People still talk about David Thompson, Phil Ford, Charlie Scott, Tommy Burleson, Ralph Sampson, etc. like they were playing in the ACC just a year ago. Hell people still talk about Lennie Rosenbluth and that 1957 UNC team. How many people are still talking about great players from C-USA from even 5 years ago? There's a reason why the top players in the ACC are always on people's short list for National Player of the Year. Same as how great football players in the SEC are on everyone's list for the Heisman Trophy. The media and fans of college athletics know how difficult the SEC football and ACC basketball schedules can be, and that was evident this year when LSU was a near unanimous pick as the team to meet tOSU in the national title game, and Tebow and McFadden were the top two Heisman finalists.

I hope we have a backup plan if we don't get Wall, and not a Javi Gonzalez type backup plan. I'm tired of coming in 2nd for these top PGs (Shakur, Prince come to mind right off the bat)

if i were a coach, i'd definitely choose state -- that is unless i were scared of top-flight competition and higher-than-community college academic requirements
