Lol enjoy playing offense for a Muschamp team. Dude will get like 10 receptions per season and lead the team.

eh...our passing attack hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire. receptions leader this was a TE/FB/RB. our WR with the most catches only caught 35.

Clearly he's a big name so that comes with some hype, but how good is he? Will he start or redshirt? and how much will that impact his decision?

he's pretty good, from what i can tell. ranked as a 3 or 4* depending on which recruiting service you use. #6 recruit in the state of NC according to rivals. it's probably too early to tell whether or not he'd redshirt wherever he ends up...but given that he won't be an early enrollee, i don't think you should expect him to be a big immediate impact player.

given the schools after him, i think it's fair to say that he has a lot of upside. he's got offers from USC, Alabama, Florida, UGa, Michigan...that's impressive.

Uh yea, problem with that pros son was he sucked. He couldn't beat out a walkon for playing time here.

But his dad I loved in Madden 01 because he would always be on the waiver wire after the dynasty draft, even though he was an 86 overall corner. So he'd always be my first pickup to shore up the secondary.

I would also pick up the only black punter in the league and make him my running QB. He was a 92 overall QB after two super bowl seasons. Always loved that rags to riches story...

^ So how do we go about recruiting this black punter?

Seriously the worst thing about losing Troy Vincent is that his dad is an important NFL guy now. Would have been good for State to have a connection like that long term.

Getting Moss was strong, had heard we were the favorite for a few weeks now, glad he pulled the trigger instead of taking the UCLA visit next week.

Now Becker is our biggest recruit left, 4* CB that has blown up in the last 2 weeks and now has offers from tOSU, FSU, and I think Clemson just offered. Going to be tough to land him.

^^^shows you how much impact "recent" success has on kids. As a hardcore college football program for the last ~20 some odd years, I would hardly call Ole Miss a "top 10" program.

Just did a quick search and over the past 18 years they have finished in the pools just 5 of those years, with the high water mark at 10 in the AP last year. Two of those five were in the 20's, and the other 13 years they were unranked.

I don't totally get why a kid would care about anything BUT recent success.

Top 3 targets are Becker, Harmon, and McCloud.

Ideally at least 2 of those 3, but getting any of them will be good.

I'd "light it up" for keeping Brock Miller. Saving one as good as he is is just as good as landing a new one.

^^ that's a head scratcher but I guess you can never have to much debt at O (?) line

Maybe a project guy?

I don't worry too much about ratings on O-line guys. We've had higher rated guys that have underperformed (Bryce Kennedy, Derek Morris to a certain extent)...and lower rated guys do really well (pretty much every good/great O-lineman we've ever had was a two or three start).

That's probably the position that's developed the most in college. You just have to get guys with good frames and good footwork. After that, it's all on the S&C, O-line coach...and of course the player to commit to getting better.

^^ I agree but I also didnt see any other offers despite playing in a large market (Jacksonville FL) but apparently I didnt look hard enough. Turns out he has offers from a few other smaller level schools like Troy, Tulane, ODU & Ga Southern

^ He also committed in the summer, so it took him off the market. And as an o-lineman, it's not like you're going to throw up a bunch of touchdowns/tackles/yards/receptions that might get you noticed by bigger schools. If you're committed and have a big year, you're not going to pile up more offers.

I wondered it Ledfurd would bring anyone with him...this seems like the best candidate. Glad to see it. 6 foot 5 inches, 265 and still growing. He has a large frame and apparently is athletic.

Could grow into a really really good lineman given Ledfurd's track record.

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3417887/kendall-brown

actually not a bad DL prospect as well...he fills holes quickly and shuffles laterally well.
seems undervalued...much like the CB we got

based only on offer lists, i'd say the app state guy should commit to us. i'd guess becker and harmon are probably the highest priorities at this point. we're still recruiting devontres dukes (wr) and nick mcloud (cb). those 4-5 guys seem to be the top targets.

WR Kelvin Harmon is down to State and Miami and will announce tomorrow. CB Nick McLoud is down to State, Vandy, GT, and UCLA and will also announce tomorrow. Most people seem to think it's down to us and GT for McLoud but his "official top 4" includes Vandy and UCLA as well.

[Edited on January 29, 2016 at 12:46 PM. Reason : sounds like we're in good shape with both these guys]

Caught this on PP and thought it was interesting:

Quote :
"Just for giggles I looked up how many 2 star players we have signed under Doeren in 2014, 15, and now 16 class. I skipped the transition year of 2013 and looked back at TOB's 2010, 11, and 12 class for comparison. I was just curious... some of the guys actually turned out decent for us so I'm only looking for database purposes. At quick glance though majority of these guys had little to no impact on the field.

Doeren has signed and currently has committed a total of (7) 2-star players in the 3 classes.

TOB signed (23) 2-star players in his final 3 classes."

TOB didn't give a flying fuck about recruiting.
