deslin alexandre, DE from florida, has been committed to us. and he plans to enroll early. but he did visit Pitt this past weekend, so there's a chance he flips to them. but would have to do so pretty soon to still enroll early. he didn't flip his commitment while he was visiting Pitt, so that may be good news for us.

other recruiting news...we hosted 4 star OL TJ Moore and 4 star Robert Beal this past weekend. Beal is UGa commit and was previously committed to ND. he's still taking visits and being pursued by other schools, so i'm not sure how firm that committment is. Moore is not committed currently, but originally committed to South Carolina but has decommitted since. Tennessee might be the favorite at this point...Florida, VT, and South Carolina are also in the mix. we probably aren't the "favorite" to land either of these guys, really. but i guess it's a good sign that they took visits here this past weekend.

it seems like, for the most part, this class is pretty close to being wrapped up. still going after a couple guys that we would obviously take...and if Chubb or Josh Jones go pro or if there is other attrition, more spots could open up.

I'd say the "favorite" to land Moore right now is actually VT. UT just took a 5* OT and South Carolina just had their OL coach leave. The sad thing is we've invested a TON of time in Moore and VT was late to the dance but they're likely taking him home.

Beal is a toss-up, I still think he stays at UGA.

^gotcha...thanks for correcting me on moore. i did read (#sources) that maybe the staff feels better about Beal than Moore at this point.

we're also still in on Matthew Butler 3* DL from Garner. sounds like that is coming down to us and Tenessee.

Nah fuck you

Players see that they wont likely be playing for the guys recruiting them in a year

Happens all the time to coaches on the hot seat. Thats why if it ever becomes as obvious as it is, youre better off just firing the coach.

I'm not trying to lead the Doeren sunshine gang here. But this is not a big deal. It's unfortunate to lose a commit but there's no real reason to hit the panic button here.

Losing one mid level recruit is hardly doomsday.

Programs with dead men walking coaches like Doeren often turn things around on the recruiting trail. I apologize.

3* Orlando, FL LB Nick Smith decommits a few weeks after offers from UF and LSU

but coaches already circled back for a replacement, new commit:
3* LB Louis Acceus

Also from same HS,
3* OL Josh Fedd-Jackson

Rounding out the class should be a few DL and a K, hopefully.

Different is the Wofford K actually has solid stats, Haskins stats were just "OK" and he had taken a year off from football.

Also should be noted the Wofford kicker is being recruited by us, UGA, and UNC. Guess UNC finally ran out of Barths.

Wofford Kicker's parents also went to UNC so that may hurt us if they're offering him

I have serious doubts about our judgement considering Haskins could only get the ball about ten feet off the ground and Bambard is terrible. Hauschka was the real deal but he was from a different regime.

And Bambard was rated by some as a top 10 K out of HS, people scout kids wrong.

Buddy of mine grew up next to the Haskins and spoke with his parents, didn't seem like he enjoyed being here as much as initially hoped. Makes me wonder if he just lost confidence or just didn't care that much since it was a 1-year deal and he didn't win the starting job to start the season.

Either way, we're bringing in someone to compete for the kicking job next year, and preferably a graduate transfer since we have another top 10 K coming in the 2018 class.

I think the only person who rated him that high was the guy who he paid to train him.

Ricky Person, 4* rb from wake forest committed. Class of 2018.

Seen him listed as RB and ATH so not sure what position he's expected to be.

Seems to be some think he has a lot of potential at DB but is expected to start out at WR for us.

Though he says he committed because he told his late grandmother he would and she really liked NC State...but he has an OV scheduled to UVA soon...so that's a little odd.

I mean given how shaky our 2018 recruits have been so far, doesn't surprise me he's not leaving the door open, esp. considering how much heat DD was getting this year.

You get two, and coaches always think they can sway your opinion if you give them a shot.

From the kid's perspective, may as well go get treated like a king for a day. It's a little worrisome for us, because the coaches might sway his opinion, but who fails to commit after telling their granny they would?

I don't know, 1 good K would have given us a win over Clemson this year. Wouldn't have won the ACC Championship but would have certainly given us our biggest win in Doeren's tenure and no one would have been calling for him to be fired.
