I have a G4 in which an 8 yr-old try to put a mini disc in and it's jam. Would be easy to get out? Should I buy a new drive and get someone to put it in? If so where can I do it? Or should I just buy an external CD drive? What do you guys recommend? 1/3/2008 7:00:43 PM |

You probably could just open up the laptop and pull it out. Or if you're careful, wedge something thin in and slide it out carefully. I'm sure you COULD pay someone to do it, but if you've ever taken something apart before, and are careful, you could do it yourself. 1/4/2008 10:54:02 PM |

^^Most non-slot-loading optical drives have a pinhole that you can stick and unfolded paperclip into to manually eject a jammed tray. Apple used to cover them up with bezels on G3 and G4 towers, but you can pry the flap down to access it. Since you have a laptop, it is probably slot loading and this is a moot point. 1/5/2008 2:22:34 PM |

the slot loaders have a manual eject, its in the stupid shroud thing (i'll never understand why people use slot loaders...) on the right side push around with a paperclip and look for a button. 1/5/2008 2:36:33 PM |
