but I really dont have an idea who would be. Richardson would be interesting, but I know thats a near impossibility.

I'm think it has to be an older, white male, who is preferably a Governor, or large-city mayor.

Obama/Biden is something I'd like to see and it actually makes some sense for the Democratic party as a whole. Biden brings experience that many say Obama lacks, especially in foreign policy, and given some of the things Biden has said/done in the past, it could gain them some ground in the South.

As much as I'd like to see Obama win the primary I think it's still too early to say with any certainty that he will. Honestly I'm just happy to see that people have some sense about them and put Hillary in 3rd place. But I do like the Biden idea, I am a fan of his policy and to have him as Veep would be great along side Obama.

Well speaking as a small-gov't person, there's no way I'd support any of the dems.

But it is refreshing to see the Clinton machine lose some of its grip over the party. With all her money and connections, she still couldn't make it happen.

The thing that would make me nervous is that there isn't a whole lot the Hillary Smear Machine can do with Obama. He's such a neophyte. Without any mud to sling, and desperate to win, I'd hate to see them "suicide/plane crash" Barack.

He's polling significantly behind in South Carolina right now, a state that he won in 04. Without the money (which he doesnt have) and the support (which he doesnt have) it would take some serious mis-steps by both Clinton and Obama for him to pull this out.

he does have only a single term as a US Senator, yes. (like Edwards... or, for that matter, similar to Bush's single term as governor)

but he had 12 years in the Illinois Senate before that.

and years of political/community organiation at the Chicago-area and national level for a highly-prominent civil rights law firm before that.

and not to mention he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review

this guy is sharp. and he does have relevant experience.

by the way... did anyone else notice, that everyone's post-caucus speech (hillary, edwards, huckabee, romney, etc.) they ALL had their families and friends surrounding them while they rambled on about "thank you" this, and "thank you" that, stuff about the iowa campaign and people they met...

but Obama, he got up there, cleared the entire stage, told his wife and kids to sit down, then delivered just an amazing speech that was focused on winning the presidency.

it was like the primaries were over and he was ready to get to work.

^ i was telling that to my grandfather earlier. If Obama wins (which is more likely if he wins NH) he'd should look for a governor from the South to run with. Easley would be ideal for that (not for me since the guy is never in Raleigh) or perhaps Warner from VA?

And as much as I was Edwards homeboy in 2004, he's done unless he can keep up in SC. He's got no money (public finance) and no support left (unions or women like in 2004).

He needs to finish 2nd in NH and at least tie for 1st in SC to make himself relevant in February. Unless the anti-Clinton anti-old guard votes keep following in, which he would automatically benefit from along with Obama.

^ Edwards would've had to win in Iowa to be the anti-hillary candidate. Unfortunately, with Obama winning Iowa, he's not going to be that person. If HRC screws up, it benefits Obama, which then makes it harder for Edwards to win. Both Obama and HRC need to screw up to give Edwards a chance.

For a chance to win it all yes, both Obama and Clinton need to implde. But at this point its a race for 2nd, if Obama wins NH, between the two. However if Clinton wins NH, I think Edwards can finally put to rest his ambitions to be President.

Hindsight is 20/20 but with Edwards' strong liberal change message he should have been the candidate this year IF he stayed in the Senate longer and did not run in 2004. Now Obama is the real fresh face and is using the frustation of the Party and America that Edwards didn't have in '04 to perhaps run away with this.

Its only Iowa so lets not get ahead of ourselves though

Maybe if he had stayed in the senate but honestly the first 3 month of his campaign that were the strongest. It was a great campaign... things changed though, and the management of the campaign went by the wayside.
