Hey Ive got a 66 ford bronco with a custom built 351 windsor motor. The motor has less than 500 miles on it and for some reason it will not fire. It cranks but thats it. Also it has a c-4 automatic transmission that was rebuilt about 1000 miles ago and i seem to be going through starters right and left. I also would like to find some one who knows about edelbrock carbs. I live a few blocks from ncsu and cameron Village. Im tired of paying the expensive mechanics. If anyone has any ideas or thinks they can help - let me know. My regular email is mrbicyclemana@aol.com

whitewall on hillsb. near arbys, some of the few old school mechanics around. Also found them to be very fair with prices.

you could say i've built a few fords in my day, sounds like a fairly simple problem, does it still have points, or an electronic conversion, or a ignition box?whats wrong with the carb and what is it? anything bigger than a 750 on that motor is gonna drown italso why do the starters keep going out? mechanical failure or electrical? does it have headers?

^Thought the same thing about the headers.Hey bikeman I've also got a 66' Bronco. I've got an old pic in my gallery. I put a 302 in it with a c4 and I had to replace the tranny twice to get a good one... diagnostic wise I'm not much help, but I can help unhook everything. I've also got an edelbrock carb on mine but never had any trouble. Mine's got an autochoke btw. These links might help:The online Edelbrock Performer manual:http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/eps_intro.htmlHere is a link to a .PDF of the Edelbrock Users Guide:http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/carbownersmanual.pdfCar Craft article with general Rochester tuning information:http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/1071/FordMuscle magazine article on tuning an Edelbrock Performerhttp://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2005/08/EdelbrockCarburetor/index.phpTuninghttp://www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/mufp_0501_carburetors/index.html289 buildup with a few Edelbrock Performer specificshttp://www.mustangmonthly.com/projectbuild/14239/Edelbrock Carburetor accessorieshttp://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/carb_acces.htmlOne guys experience tuning Holley vs. Edelbrock (take it with a grain of salt)http://www.stratadrome.com/bronco/holley_vs_edelbrock.htmCarburetor Installationhttp://www.carcraft.com/howto/1009/Dyno tuning Edelbrock AVS carburetorhttp://www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/0403phr_carb/Carter Carburetors (Paperback) by Dave Emanuelhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0931472113/ref=ord_cart_shr/102-5007764-9193723?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance&n=283155

quit buying advance starters if they are having electrical failures.

heat shield your headers or exhaust manifolds. the heat will fry your starter over time. happened to me in my 73 bronco a few times till i got wise

Gear reduction starters FTW, but even then you gotta keep em cool.
