Sorry, but a $2500 car will never meet US DOT standards. I bet the Tata Nano doesnt even have airbags.1/10/2008 9:40:08 PM |

heh, I like how they were comparing stats with the Model T... I have a funny suspicion that this car isn't going to be as revolutionary as the model T was a century ago. First off, there were no other car or motorcycle on the road back then... 1/14/2008 12:43:50 AM |

Can't wait to see what people do to hot rod them.
And where are the sexy Indian models showing off the car? I guess I'll have to hold off on my my 'Nice Ta Tas' jokes.

If you look at the market back then, there were only luxury/premium cars. What I should have said is that the Model T brought the car to the masses to an era where there were no other market choices besides animals. It was revolutionary because the Model T altered the American culture and allowed the people to travel more readily and further than before. Remember, Ford also helped with implementing the means of using his product with complimentary goods and the logistics to use them (mainly distribution of fuel).
At least in current times in Asia, there are already modern alternatives such as the motorcycle, for transportation for the masses and an already establish infrastructure, while crude - it's there. It's a novel idea to bring such a low priced 4 wheel car to the Asian market, but I have my doubts about the validity of how the company will execute their goals and still turn a profit.
Great idea? I think so. Revolutionary. No. Great ideas or products does not mean it will succeed. Market research is key, specially when you are aiming to a totally new demographic with a never before tested product for that market. It's very risky, but we'll see if it pans off.

The speed depends on the driver, It's based on tried and true drive train technology.
