I was looking at http://www.skybus.com and they have super cheap flights to this location. I want to do a little gambling and go to the beaches for a long weekend, and I wanted to know if the area is worth visiting now since it was ravaged by Katrina. 1/11/2008 11:08:23 AM |

I know someone who went to Gulfport on a mission trip in the summer of '06. He said it was like a third world country and he despised it. Dunno if its changed for the better or not. 1/11/2008 11:11:03 AM |

Thats kinda what I figured. I went to New Orleans Spring of 2007 and it was pretty nice (some parts), but you never heard that much about Biloxi/Gulfport in the news. 1/11/2008 11:12:54 AM |

i was there about a year ago for work (pascagoula ship yard) and it was alright... we stayed on the north side of that peninsula type thing in biloxi (back bay?), along the 110. a few of the big casinos along beach blvd were totally messed up looking still... we stayed at the IP hotel & casino and it was nice, but boring unless you want to gamble with old people. 1/11/2008 1:40:25 PM |

Well I just want to go for a couple days during the early summer so we can golf, gamble, and maybe fish or go to the beach for the day. 1/11/2008 2:27:46 PM |

It's only cool there at the end of the month, when all the young people like me beg their elderly family members for those weekend hotel stays (and get them)
Beach Blvd/U.S. 90 gets pretty depressing in spots
Five years ago I'd have suggested it, but now I'm not so sure - guess it depends on which casino/resort you stayed at, and what was going on there 1/15/2008 5:14:24 PM |

Yeah I live in Mobile, AL and have heard about skybus as well. My parents are coming down in March because of the deal on airfare. Biloxi is not that bad now. Hard rock, IP, Isle of Capri, and the best one, Beau Rivage are all back open and look great. MS did not get the damage that New Orleans did and lets face it, there is a lot less corruption than in the "choclate City" (yes Mayor Ray Nagan called NOLA that)
As mentioned, you can be in NOLA in an hour and a half max from Biloxi and the beaches all look great now. I fly over that area at least once a week and the areas around the casinos and in general looks like anywhere else along the gulf coast. 1/15/2008 9:43:56 PM |

I'm assuming that the weather is pretty nice this time a year. Correct assumption? 1/15/2008 10:31:07 PM |

yep all the gambling is back in full force. not nearly as much other local stuff as there used to be, but the weekend-tourist stuff is all back and open 1/16/2008 3:33:10 AM |

Excellent. I'm not looking to spend two weeks here, but a long weekend of gambling and the beach would be nice. 1/16/2008 2:02:51 PM |
