first 8 digits can't be figured out unless you know what credit card company it was and what region the card was issued in

the last 4 digits, without knowing the card issuer and expiration, is useless

This is why I asked you for your bank name. Also, there's maybe at most 36 possible expiration dates. But yeah, the only really dangerous recipt would be one from your bank's ATM machine. Most people try to use their bank's ATMs so you've got a good chance (if it's an actual branch ATM and not one at a mall or something) of getting the bank+region correct with one of those.

Anyways, that's how the investigator said the guy we had calling us over a blind/deaf transcription service ordering computers this summer had obtained most of the 8 credit card numbers he tried to use.

First 6 is the bank identification number (bin) the last few can be figured out by some others but I don't remember the formula... The middle 6 well, good luck guessing those. Regardless, it's all useless without expiration and even then pretty much useless without the right cvv2 which is not related to any of the other numbers so you won't be figuring it out.
