Durham — Somewhere, a polka band might be dealing in some hot brass.
Fourteen sousaphones were stolen recently from the band room at North Carolina Central University, police said Tuesday. The instruments – six Conn sousaphones and eight Jupiter sousaphones worth about $3,000 each – were taken sometime in December or early January.
Durham Crime Stoppers has offered a reward for information about the theft.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call N.C. Central Police Detective A.J. Carter at 919-560-5397, Detective Billy Boyd at 919-560-7365 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200." |

well, they dont just around out in the open. they breakdown and go in a case. the case is...more than likely stored in a room...so if you are not going into the toom to get a marching sousaphone then you are not going to miss them.
a marching sousaphone and a tuba are 2 different things 1/16/2008 12:16:39 PM

Quote : | "Greensboro, NC -- Greensboro police need your help with a couple of salon burglaries that may be related.
The first happened around 6:45 Tuesday evening at the E-style barber shop on Randleman Road.
Police say it looks like someone shattered the front glass door with a large rock.
Employees say several pairs of hair clippers were missing valued at about $500. The investigation is ongoing.
The second burglary happened at Virtuous Crown on Randleman around around the same time.
Police say someone also used a rock to shatter the front glass door. Several pairs of expensive clippers were taken from that salon as well.
Anyone with information on either burglary should call Greensboro CrimeStoppers at 373-1000. " |
