ha ha i intercepted my bigass shipments of steak from the UPS guy so they didnt sit out. i dont know if it would have mattered either way cause im not a scientist.

so anyway i packed the freezer with the food. and i want to play with the dry ice later (no bombs)

first, i cant play now i gotta go where should i store it to last longer? each bag came at the bottom of a big cooler in a bag with hole punch size holes every few inches. decent sized chunks. i was gonna repack it into freezer bags and just put it in the freezer, will that work?

second, what is some cool stuff i can do with it. i cant remember 5th grade.

Put water and dry ice into a cup. Cool enough already. Get a paper towel wet and put soap on it. Cover the cup with the paper towel and press the edges to form a seal. Then slowy pull the towel off to form a film on top of the cup. The reaction of the dry ice and water will cause the film to expand into a bubble, and eventually pop, just like here.

The video is played twice as fast from when the bubble starts until it is popped - it took over to minutes to pop itself. The rupture is played in slow motion. Enjoy!

We got some cheap dry ice from Kmart back in the day and had fun with it in Sullivan dorm.

Those things are loud as fuck. We woke up all of Sullivan and Lee one night I think.

We also made a silly contraption using a 2 liter where you screw the cap on and opened a small valve and the gas passes through some nozzles and made the bottle spin very fast.

Ours was loud. Like shake the building, wake up everyone within a few hundred yards loud. We experimented with different bottle sizes and water percentages to get the loudest effect.

We also dropped it down the Sullivan fire chute once and into the metal dumpster...which produced a nice effect.

-40 F = - 40 C (odd congruence point), you can try but since it de-ices automatically it will get up to 33 then back down periodically.

dry ice sublimes at a huge expansion rate, 1 kg solid = 808 cubic meters of CO2....

so, better leave a window open... it can and will kill you if you have enough of it... (while you sleep)
