How much do these generally run for? I imagine only people in large cities will be answering this question. Also, let it be stated that I'd never pay someone else to walk my dog, I mean why the hell even have the dog if you do that?

Anyway, I'm asking b/c this girl I've gone out with a few times pays a dogwalker $500/month to walk her dog, and that seems ridiculously expensive to me.

$500/month!

assuming 2 times a day, 5 days a week that is $12.50 per walk

how long does it take to walk a dog?

esp if you were to compare it to a daycare facility

Thats ridiculous, but I suppose if people want to pay that much for the care, then they must REALLY want a dog.

Luckily my pooch can hold his bladder for a good 9 hrs no problem.

yeah ive often thought about opening a puppy day care and just letting it run itself.

the place i use never has less than 30-40 dogs per day, and at $32/dog/day, that's impressive.

3 attendants, prlly like $15/hr each.... rent cant be too much

clip the competition by a buck or two a day, just let it run itself and pull in the cash.

it's a nice racket.

I'm honestly considering doing exactly this. My father and I were discussing the idea of me opening a business with him providing the startup capital. A dog walking/doggy day care service is a pretty easy, pretty viable, pretty low risk operation. I mean, if it falls flat on its face I'm probably only out the remainder of the lease fees on a building. Make it an all inclusive service with boarding and grooming and you're set.

a dog has 4 legs, and people have 2. let him walk himself. Seriously, though 500 dollars a month is a lot of money. That's a payment and insurance for a pretty nice car.

to own a business like that it requires more than you would think....atleast if you want to be safe/reputable. things like insurance, a kennel liscense, an agreement with a vet (or a vet on site) in case there are any issues, laundry facilities, enough to staff to have a reasonable staff:dog ratio, etc. and you always have to make sure that the dogs are up to date on their shots (especially bordetella) so they dont make anyone sick.

but being just a dog walker wouldnt be a bad gig at all.

In fairness I never heard any complaint about the actual dog-walking. It was drunken off-duty behavior.

I would love for DNL to try and punch my dog. My dog would end him.
