Get out there and do your civic duty as a NC State student or alum. Some of the best Italian and atmosphere's in Raleigh that close to NC State. Also I hear they have a HD or comparable Projection Screen for all NCAA and NFL games in a rather nice small environment.

Go!

I'll have to make a trip out there soon. Glad to hear they don't have plans to immediately close, but definitely sounds like they could use some more business.

Odd, the place always looks packed on weekend nights and fairly busy on weeknights when I go past...

amedeos should be a staple of nc state student's diet

atleast once a month you should go there

they have amazing sweet tea

and good food for what it is

plus where else can you get all the state nostalgia?

im going to be in raleigh this weekend and i think ill eat there again just because of this article even though i wasnt planning on going

The article says their problems are not attributed to lack of business, its that their debt is overwhelming.

I like this place but its way to expensive for me to be a regular. I only eat there occasionally. Now if Ruckus was going bankrupt, I would organize a car wash or something.

I'm sorry, did you just say "best Italian"???? Thats insulting! What kind of Italian food have you been eating? Amedeo's might be an NC State land mark but please don't insult Italian food and call that good.

Good Service? I thought so.
Will have the fate of most family businesses ...... probably (the second generation sucks at running it and it fails)

Ate there twice while I was an undergrad and was not impressed. I don't believe in supporting a business just because it's a landmark or a "local institution." I danced a jig when I read that Brother's had closed a few years ago, because that place was horrible and just taking up space.

PS: I haven't had their pizza, though. I would be willing to try them again for that.

It's not the best Italian around by any means, but it is tasty nonetheless. I do agree that they need to work on their service though, most of the times I've been there, it took too long to be seated and too long to be served.

Frattello's before the head chef opened his own place. Now its still good but not the best. Thats just off the top of my head. There really isn't great Italian around here. Every 'authentic' restaurant around here has been Americanized.

it's funny how some people act about amedeos

you people act like he raped your mom

the food isn't the best italian, but it's a cool place, good place to catch a game, and the pizza is actually really good

^i don't see your point at all. No one is acting like that. Those of us that ate there and aren't swayed by 'omg its NC STATE LAND MARK!!! cool!" can judge the food for what it really is. Shitty.

"authentic italian"

i've been to italy. the "authentic" stuff wasn't all that great. for whatever reason, the best italian food is in Germany.

Which means Amedeo's is pretty good for what it is. Plus, the atmosphere makes it worth it.

funniest comment made in this thread so far.

^^^^thats because you are so used to shitty Italian. I've been eating 'authentic' Italian since I was able to eat solid food. Your macaroni grills, olive gardens and Amedeo's doesn't cut it.

and Amedeo's doesn't rank compared to the decent places around here. so just because we don't have great italian around here doesn't mean Amedeo's is suddenly 'great' and acceptable.

Some of the best Italian i've had in a long time was up in DC over New Years Hand made gnocchi FTW

My brother lives in Germany and I've been to Italy. The food in Italy was by far the best...and you can also find great Italian in other European countries. (quite obvious one would think)

^clearly we see why you don't like the food. you can STFU now.

I don't even need to worry about the cost, but I usually split a pizza when I go there. It's like $10 per person that way and that's probably the best thing they have going. Their pizzas are pretty tasty.
