thscc.com
goto the rally link on the left
and the second half is rallycross (dont do rally) and just click register.

i read that the four oaks field is really flat and good for n00bs. so it wont tear up suspension.

we may either pay online or at the event.

You think a slightly lowered M3 (but on stiff track, -err trail rated suspension) would bottom out often on that field?

Barely lower than stock, maybe a half inch. Just higher spring rate and much more aggressive shocks. I didn't want it to have the slammed look, and I drive the car on the street a lot, obviously. I may lower it more with stiffer springs still to keep up with some more serious machinery on track...

if you go, i MUST see pictures of that. people on bimmerforums would crucify you for rallying an M3..e36 at that with mud and stuff hahahaha

cool idea though

I rallyxed the maxima. It was lowered 1.5'' and I broke my exhaust. The joint between the y-pipe and the back pipe was ripped apart.
Some serious rutts form after 40 cars do the same track.

i need to do a quick tune up

I wish I had a beater I could run in something like this, sounds like a lot of fun. I'd just be too worried about bringing out my DD and possibly breaking shit (ground clearance on the Marauder wouldn't be an issue but the rear air suspension might, plus it's not the most agile car in the world to begin with...)

is a fwd really going to be competitive for rallying?

yeah, FWD is fine, and most competitors run FWD or AWD

fools.

a) do NOT take a lowered M3 out there. You'll leave w/o some body work for sure. The courses get VERY rutted over the course of the day and Keven has been getting a little more wild and even putting in little hills/jumps.

b) next to AWD, FWD is exactly what you want. RWD has no hope out there. the courses get very loose. sometimes up to a foot of loose dry dirt. FWD w/ skinny winter tires is what you want.

c) you don't need any goofy lights, its during the day

damn. i wanted to use my lights for something!!!

back when discount tire had the $100 off 4 tires, i was considering buying a set of winter tires just for this. it was less than $100 total shipped. but i didnt know how serious i was about doing this.

i've gotta tighten up my ebrake. freakin car takes forever to come to a stop if i yank it up. maybe its because of the massive amounts of powR it has. or maybe its not.

I don't want to tear up my car (and wouldn't drive on it if it looked like it'd bottom out often). It sounds like I should just avoid going all together. I figured I'd take the front bumper off before running, but maybe that won't be enough...

if it was close by i would say bring it out there to see.

you dont have to pay until you get there. but they do get kinda upset if you dont pay. but im sure you telling them your car is low and dont want to risk it might be reasonable. specially if they have close to 50 participants.

ok well tomorrow calls for a 90% chance of rain THE WHOLE DAY into the night .

still debating whether or not i should go. i really want to. but all you folks say it gets rough out there.

i would love to go for 1 run. but im not paying for 1 run. and if it turns out bad (ruts and what not) then im def. not going to run.

so i pretty much want a free run.

i want to.

but i also want a car intact.

because i know if i go out there, there is no "go light". its gonna be full throttle into something/one/place

and kapaweeee there goes the most powerful car to roam four oaks.
