That is pretty funny.

Maybe when China takes over the world, they'll mistake me for one of them and I'll get to enjoy the spoils. Boo yah! The advantages of being Asian American...

... or they'll just kill me like they do all the other asians they've killed who are against them.

I saw a news story today about some bilzzard in china.

They had like 7 or 8 people in the back of a truck dumping salt on the roads, and a good 2 dozen people with brooms not fit for a witch, sweeping snow off a sidewalk.

I guess they have the manpower to operate this way, but pathetically primitive compared to us.

^ that may be the case (I have pretty much stopped watching TV news)

but that doesn't ever happen here. It's pretty clear too, from the vid, that most of China is run down.

"like detective lady
with giant testicles"

Fake, not actually from anyone in china. Almost certain of it after this line.

I figured that was the T-dub consensus, but it's presented in the video description as actual propaganda, and no one had mentioned it yet.

i went to shanghai and bejing a little over a year ago. the workforce is so huge that people have jobs to sweep the streets clean with brooms. a friend of mine lives there and they have a lady clean their apartment twice a week for US$20 a month. i'm not sure that having 15 cities larger than NY is such a great accomplishment. china has made huge strides recently but they have a long way to go. cool place though.

^I'm curious, what 15 cities are those? And how are you ranking that?

I ask b/c of this:

that's what i thought. the 5 official boroughs of NYC don't have more than 7 or 8 million people.

yeah their economy is growing, but their working conditions are terrible, they can barely survive
they are extremely dependent on america,

so im not sure what they're bragging about, if it is true that america will take a big fall due to china's growth then the increase in poor people in the USA means competition for low wage jobs

either way i dont see this chinese boom going very far

oh i'm not ranking those at all. somewhere in the video the caption said NY was smaller than 15 cities in china, so that is what i was referring to.

They're becoming less dependent on us though as they begin to dump on the third world and the Europeans.

However, I do agree that China is much more fragile than people realize. Between the ecological nightmare, gross social inequality (and resulting civil unrest), their rapidly approaching equivalent of our baby boomer generation, rampant corruption, and the growing demand for public goods, China has a lot of big, ticking time bombs they've got to defuse in the near future. It will be a real test for both their leadership and system of government.

"rampant corruption"
this is the ultimate benefit of living in a liberal democracy

yes, we have corruption...

but I think the ultimate test is... can you bribe your way out of a speeding ticket

if you can, and that's the norm, then your system needs work

More like if they demand a bribe from you the moment you role down your window, then you know that your system needs help.

no shit, i'd say 75% of speeding tickets are nothing more than paying the "luxury highway tax" as the violator is less of a public hazard then grandma going 55 on I40 with girls slamming on brake or swerving around her.
