I was wondering if the wolf web has ever been very profitable? i see that if you were to land some good advertising, things could rapidly grow, but what about charging the $5 or $10 or however much for the premium memberships? does that money just get put back into the site in terms of updating servers or computers or whatnot? basically i'm wondering just how profitable the site actually is, but i understand if that info is top secret or something

why don't you Zip right over to the "site info" page and stop posting "Zip!" after everything you write. It's fucking stupid.

I doubt there is any profit in it right now other than the fact that they could sell what they have and make some money... they went for the longest using their own funds/equipment to support this site. 6/17/2002 6:53:06 PM |

They own CrazyWeb, which is the code this site is based on. They can license that out or develop applications using it for money. 6/17/2002 9:11:15 PM |

It ain't profitable. They sunk more than they have made into all the new server equipment. And that is not even considering time and labor spent on it. Though I suppose it would look good on the ol' resume. 6/18/2002 12:03:29 AM |

no it isn't profitable. yes it could be somewhat profitable, but not with regards to the time put into it. it is also a major liability for me. we have faced expenses that are about 100 times as much as our revenue. luckily we have been able to resolve the debts without consequence.
the code and the community is definitely worth something. we're not looking to sell the community, but are always looking to license out the code. i'm just not marketing it enough to make any money. i would rather spend my time innovating and showcasing new technologies. hopefully people will notice and then i won't have to worry about TWW making a profit 6/18/2002 12:44:59 AM |
