this technique is called cell shading, if im correct. I was wonder how to turn add this effect into a short video that was shot from a standard video camera.
was this video made from scratch with 3d rendering, or was a regular video converted/manipulated?
I'm searching google as we speak.

Quote : | "Rotoshop is a proprietary graphics editing program created by Bob Sabiston. Rotoshop uses an animation technique called interpolated rotoscoping, which has been used in Richard Linklater's films Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly,[1] as well as the music video for the song "Destiny" by Zero 7[2] and the Talk to Chuck advertising campaign for Charles Schwab.[3] The name is a play on Photoshop, a photo editing program from Adobe. The software is not currently available for use outside Flat Black Films." |

Auto Level resize to 1600x1200 Create Duplicate Layer Artistic>Poster Edges Filter (10,1,6) but adjust accordingly Noise>Dust and Scratches (1,1) Stylize>Diffuse (anisotropic) Artistic>Film Grain (2,16,10) adjust accordingly
Optional to create "banding effect"
Artistic>Cutout (8,0,3) adjust accordingly Edit>Fade Cutout (65%) adjust accordingly
I think it could look a lot better if you used illustrator to paint on highlights, outlines and shadows like the artists did for the movie. Let me know if you have any other ideas." |
hmmm
I need an easy way to re-create this shit. I'm not putting in serious time. lol

Looks like this is the closest anyone's gotten, short of spending 18 months with software that's not released:

it was written by one of the A Scanner Darkly artists.

Just because you see something that looks simple, doesn't make it simple.
Spend the time, or create a regular video 1/29/2008 2:16:59 PM |
