Haven't seen a thread about this yet... what do you guys think? Will it give the WRX a run for it's money?

That's a lancer, I could actually buy. It doesn't look ass ugly like the generation that came to the states. oh shit, not offered in a manual. fuck that.

to cool them turbos! just a bit of speculation, but with cars running leaner to get better mileage, would they not be running hotter as well? possibly necessitating a need for slightly bigger grills 1/31/2008 5:13:11 PM |

what I think is...who fucking cares?
the only reason to buy anything in the Lancer line is that the Evo is a fucking phenomenal driving experience, which overshadows the negatives for many people (and now they gayed the Evo up, so I don't really see any point in any of them).
I don't quite get why you'd buy the Ralliart. 1/31/2008 7:44:47 PM |

I think that Mitsubishi is banking on the fact that EVO fanboys/gawkers will go for this one instead of the full fledged EVO. It's cheaper. And it supposedly provides performance for your buck.
There is a market for this kind of cheap boy racer car (i.e. SRT4). I think it actually might be successful.1/31/2008 9:30:05 PM |

it's just like the WRX to the STi. Not everyone wants to drop 35k on the STi/Evo 2/1/2008 9:27:57 AM |

Fanboy's don't place a premium on proper braking and suspension handling.2/1/2008 11:00:09 AM |

I think it looks better than the evo X. delete spoiler, swap to stock lancer front end... strap on probably anything that gets built for the evo X and voila. ulti-sleeper.
The real question is... who WOULDN'T like a 3/4 power evo for $10k off? You might be able to get most of that back with a reflash!
disclaimer: we're speaking in relatives here people. This is merely "less ugly" 2/1/2008 3:53:43 PM |

Yeah i doubt the turbos are the same and mitsu also has cheaper versions of the evo block so i wouldn't be surprised if it had one of those too. 2/1/2008 4:11:05 PM |

^I bet its easier to build a lancer ralliart from the same production line and process and parts as an evo than a lancer... I'd be surprised if they did something as complicated as offering two different engines with different turbo setups than the simpler arrangement of just downgrading the turbo and deleting the intercooler...
but that info hasn't been seen by either of us yet, so I guess we'll see what's up when that info pops up....
....
edit:
it's looking more and more like a de-contented evo....
Quote : | " In atonement for its sins, it's fitted the new Ralliart with a detuned version of the 4B11T pulled from the Evolution X, producing 235 hp and an unknown amount of torque. Additionally, Mitsubishi has decided to fit the Twin Clutch-SST transmission, pulled from the high-power and high-priced Evo X MR. The TC-SST clicks off the shifts through a set of steering wheel mounted paddles and sends power to a full-time all-wheel-drive system equipped with Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). " |
