I was in the hardware store I used to work at about six months ago and asked the cashier where the ratchet straps were. She didn't know what they were, so I just went back to where they used to be. I grabbed them, showed them to the cashier, and explaind that they were in the same place they'd been when I worked there (do the math in my head) 9 years ago. I then asked her how old she was. 16. I've been substitute teaching lately for extra income, and the realization that there are now people who are old enough to vote that were born in the 90s shook me to the core. The kids could not understand why I was so flabbergasted. Pfft. Shows what they know.

I assumed that anyone who was not an infant was born before 1987. It was one of the fundamental pillars of my whole worldview.
