I've really become a fan of NPR these last two months. I don't listen to it everyday, sometimes i need music while I work but i've really taken a liking to their programs. Some of the music programs that come on saturday nights are great too. I've always gotten a kick out of Prairie Home Companion but am never around the radio to hear it many saturday nights. The Thistle & Shamrock is awesome too if you like celtic music.

So here it is..a thread to show how much you appreciate NPR.

oh and Science Friday today, Yes!

I have been listening to NPR for a few years now. There are a ton of good shows. The story with Dick Gordon, this american life, wait wait don't tell me, state of things, etc. are all awesome.

Diane Rehm is the lady with the weird voice. I used to be distracted by her voice but I am used to it now, and she has some good shows sometimes.

I love NPR.

One night while I was camping I was laying down next to the fire and I had my little fm radio playing to hear Prairie home companion. after that, Thistle & Shamrock, and then a program came on and the music was very much like monkish chanting, and that type of music. It may have been a local program (i was in surry county, so from the triad NPR channel). is anyone familiar with that program?

I love NPR!! It's all I listen to in the car and at work (when I can), especially the Diane Rehm show. If I miss it I just download it, great for working out, oh and also The Story with Dick Gordon. I <3 Talk of the Nation too.

All Things Considered, Morning Edition, Fresh Air, BBC News Hour... pretty much the entire day's line-up for WUNC is the best thing ever, without NPR my day sucks.

And of course I'm a contributing listener.

Actually I dont think I have my car radio programmed to anything else.

that wasn't chanting

that was the hum of a plane's engine as it crashed to the ground

I know this. I've heard a lot of plane crashes.

the best things on NPR are car talk and BBC news. Sometimes prairie home companion.

The rest is meh to awful.

yeah, I was livid with NPR when they replaced The Connection with Dick Gordon for the Diane Rehm show. I didn't realize that Dick went off the air at the time, and while it's good to have him back I think The Connection was a better show.

The Connection >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Diane Rehm

NPR is the only radio station I listen to besides the classical station.

I really like This American Life most of the time. Exceptions: they have some boring shows, and there's the woman with the nasally voice and the slight lisp; she's like an unfunny female David Sedaris. Can't stand her.

Wait Wait is usually pretty good. Paula Poundstone is really hit or miss. I find Mo Rocca way funnier on the Daily Show than on WWDTM.

Car Talk is great.

Marketplace is actually pretty entertaining given the dry topic.

Sound Opinions is pretty good. Last week I turned on my radio and Missy Elliott was playing and I was like WTF? And there's NPR, talking about Timbaland. I thought that was cool.

grrr, I can't stand Car Talk. It is two guys with really annoying accents laughing at each other for an hour talking about cars vegans drive.

NPR is a bunch of self-important, latte-sipping, urban, leftists . . . it is also probably the best and most in-depth reporting on the radio.

So yeah, grudgingly, I'm a fan

Whoa...Diane Rehm does not look as old as I pictured her.

I looked up Terry Gross and she def does not look like what I expected and I love Faith Salie's voice from Fair Game and she does not look like what I expected either.

I have no idea where I get the images in my head of what I think these people look like.
