I just scored a big lot of home automation equipment from Craigslist:

http://asheville.craigslist.org/ele/550036811.html

It's an assortment of X10 and Radioshack modules and some other neat stuff

anybody have any experience with this?
got any beginners guides?

anybody have experience with Mr. House

its a linux home automation application... I'm gonna let me roommate crack on it a bit using Freevo on top of it - he wants to preset some lighting for movie watching now that we've got a huge projection screen

X10 is using the same technology they were using 10 years ago - absolutely no innovation - there are a number of companies that make products that are X10 compatible that are much better

I use a bunch of X10 modules, and used the activehome SDK from x10.com to write my own software I called HomeNET.

Its all web based, so any PC in the house can get to it, and X10 controls is just one of the modules I put in it.
