i switched over to a duffel bag 5-6th grade, then switched over to just carrying things in my hand around 9-10th

then in college i'd just pretty much carry a notepad with me, maybe lug the book if it was necessary

I remember my profs giving me looks when I'd write down assignments on the back/front/knucle side of my hand. Never cared if I fit in, it just worked for me.
