Only in boxing could something like this happen. What's even sadder is that I would actually watch this.
Quote : | " Feb. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Evander Holyfield said he and Mike Tyson are discussing the possibility of fighting each other for a third time, the Guardian newspaper reported, citing an interview with the four-time heavyweight boxing champion.
Holyfield, 45, said Tyson approached him via an intermediary to discuss a rematch, the Guardian reported. Their second fight in 1997 ended in controversy when Tyson was disqualified for twice biting Holyfield, on one occasion tearing off a chunk of his ear.
``There has been some talk between us,'' the Guardian cited Holyfield as saying. ``Mike had Jeff Fenech, who's been training him, call me a few months ago. Jeff says Mike wants to fight me again, but he needs to know if I would agree to it. I said, `It all depends on what they gonna give us, because I'm gonna catch a lot of flak if I say I'm fighting Mike Tyson again.'''
Holyfield knocked out Tyson when they first fought in 1996 and has a professional boxing record of 42-9-2. Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in 1986 when he beat Trevor Berbick at age 20. Now 41, Tyson last fought in June of 2005, when he quit during the seventh round of a bout against Kevin McBride to leave his record at 50-6. " |

As much as I know this fight will suck all the way around, I still have to see it. I mean, I won't pay for it. But when it hits youtube the next day I'm all over it! 2/29/2008 9:17:35 PM |

^I think you mean 12. I am pretty sure they stopped having 15 round matches in the early 1980s. 3/1/2008 8:56:46 AM |

People would watch Tyson fight someone else, nobody really wants to see Holyfield fight someone else 5/10/2020 11:47:21 PM |

I’d want to watch for nostalgias sake. Even if Holyfield already has brain damage etc

I mean some people would want to watch any old fighters fight for one reason or another. But despite Holyfield being 2-0 vs Tyson, Tyson still has "it" to a lot more people than Holyfield does. Nobody claims Holyfield in his prime was the GOAT like many people think Tyson was. imo Tyson would've whooped Holyfield if they fought back when Cus was his trainer. 5/11/2020 12:23:20 AM |

I don’t disagree with Cus comment for sure. If Tyson still has “it” I want to see him fight Holyfield...both times they fought Tyson was heavily favored. Most people still thought he had “it” then. Tyson-Holyfield 3 is best option both of them has as far as in ring matches. Imo of course 5/11/2020 12:30:02 AM |

Don't get me wrong, if Tyson is going to come back and fight someone, Holyfield would be the #1 person I'd want to see him fight. I am just saying Tyson has a bigger following than Holyfield so from a marketing standpoint, I don't know how many promoters would be lining up to put together a card for a 57 year old Evander Holyfield fight someone other than Tyson, whereas I think Tyson vs someone else would still get some traction.] 5/11/2020 12:32:54 AM |

Both have dueling “i’m back” training videos. I can’t imagine who people would want to see Mike Tyson fight more than Holyfield. They need to make this happen 5/14/2020 12:53:12 AM |
