I am running on a not so legal copy of xp and am sick of it. I just want a legitimate copy. Imagine that. Can I purchase the upgrade version of xp pro or will i need to purchase the full xp pro? I know i'm a bastard for using an illegal copy of xp so i don't need to hear about it below. but i'm sure i will. so flame on if you must. 3/1/2008 11:53:54 PM |

I wont flame you for pirating software, but I will flame you for asking an absolutely retarded question.
This question can be answered with simple common sense. Unfortunately common sense isn't so common, I guess.
If you have a legal copy of a previous version of windows, then you can legally upgrade it with the xp upgrade. If you don't own a legal copy of a previous version...well then guess what?
Also I'll flame you for not using google.
http://www.google.com/search?q=upgrade+xp+version
first result:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/xp_upgrade_paths.htm
FYI: you can use a pirated copy of a previous version of windows to install the upgrade of XP, however that puts you in the same moral boat as if you would have just pirated the whole OS in the first place.] 3/2/2008 12:27:15 AM |

not to be a dick but since you are being a dick ^^^ that is not the first result and also it does not answer the question i asked at all. It says if you are not eligible for an upgrade. What makes you not eligible. Based on the previous information if seems to be only implying you are not eligible based on what you are attempting to upgrade from. So yeah

IF YOU HAVE A FUCKING LEGIT VERSION OF WINDOWS, YOU CAN UPGRADE TO XP

I'm gonna go into The Garage and make a similar thread.
Hey guys, I have a vehicle with no tires. It might be a car and it might be a motorcycle, I'm not gonna tell you which one.
How many tires do I need?] 3/2/2008 1:44:41 PM |

^if you own the PC and it's the only MSDNAA version of XP you've used or is installed, then it's fine.
if you have more than one MSDNAA version of XP installed on multiple computers I'd imagine that it's illegal, it's for STUDENTS only, that's the POINT of MSDNAA, it's not so you can give your parents free XP 3/3/2008 6:58:41 PM |
