Ever since switching to a laptop without gaming capabilities, I've come to miss my old desktop rig...anyhow, I'm looking to return to the old bliss of Company of Heroes, Command and Conquer and the like, but I don't want to spend an assload of money, so here's what I'm looking for:
-Just the tower (unless you have a spare monitor/speakers to throw in at a reasonable rate)
-It doesn't have to be absolute cutting edge graphics/audio-wise...the games I'll be playing include the above (C&C Generals to be specific), and others like World in Conflict (I haven't had a desktop system in well over a year, so I'm not up on newer titles
-On the above note:[u/] I'd like the setup to be able to smoothly handle the specific games I mentioned (it doesnt necessarily need to run them on the highest settings, but it should be able to run them at a level that doesn't look like shit)
-[u/]Sound card: doesn't have to be anything incredibly special
-The computer will most likely be used solely for game purposes, so a hard drive large enough to store a decent number of large games would work, but I don't need anything with some absurdly high capacity.
-Processor/RAM: I'll defer my preferences here to the comments about the ability of the graphics card: These 2 should be able to keep up with the games I mentioned, but I won't be running large numbers of programs at once, nor will I be running anything like photoshop
If anyone interested needs further specifics, just ask....feel free to throw set-ups with prices out there, but I'm going to hold off on naming a specific dollar amount I'm looking to spend at least for now (I'm flexible to a certain point)  3/2/2008 2:35:51 PM
