so is the original one of those "unwatchables" like irreversible?
i'm about sick and tired of shit like that... 3/9/2008 3:05:37 PM |

I actually really like Irreversible so I wouldn't call it "unwatchable" although I can understand why someone might say that. Funny Games isn't like that though (I'm not going to say anything because it would give away too much). I would actually say watch it just because the film breaks away from certain genres so much that it's a great concept but I just felt the film cheats the audience with it's premise. But I'm down for seeing it again and maybe I can appreciate it better this time. 3/9/2008 3:19:18 PM |

I meant "unwatchable" in a sense that you can't unwatch it.
I don't think I'd ever want to see anything again like Belucci getting raped for like 14 minutes and some dude getting his head busted.

Interesting that this guy is remaking his own movie from 10 years ago.
But Naomi Watts <3 3/9/2008 3:31:57 PM |

There's nothing like that. We had a trade screening of the new Funny Games late last year and I had to build the film pretty early so I ended up watching about 20 minutes of it and it's pretty much a shot for shot recreation of the film. 3/9/2008 3:32:21 PM |

Wow the original is only 10 yrs old? When I watched it, I thought it was at least made in the 90s or something. I'm not sure why though. I did enjoy it though, especially the part when SPOILERS
the wife breaks free and shoots the one guy, then his friend is like "No no no, it isn't supposed to be like that. Let's rewind and try again"

Saw the remake with the girlfriend and this is great to see with a crowd. The old man in front of us kept throwing up his arms in frustration and the couple to our left walked out. 3/15/2008 9:37:03 AM |

Watched it with my girlfriend, she cried and tried to leave a couple times.
It was a well made film, and I think it did a good job of conveying its message.
That said, I don't know if I want to ever see it again.
P.S. You really don't have to be that much of a sadist to want to strip Naomi Watts and tie her up AMIRITE?!?!?! 4/13/2008 1:13:34 PM |
