In the near future, this will exist. It may include Japanese dramas as well. There's no hard schedule yet.

If you would be interested in helping, there will be plenty to do in terms of timing, encoding, and that sort of thing. We might just cop out and make .srt files, depends on what people can do. Or if you know any Japanese at all and would like to show up and argue with us about what's said, or even if you'd just like to sit and watch, you're welcome to come.

PM for more details.

Otherwise, flame away.

Have you talked to TASS or SRPE yet? I bet about half of them(us..) would go crazy at the chance to be a part of something like this.

^ TASS, definitely. But they've pretty well been silent. I think they've done this in the past, but I'm not sure. But through them I did find another smaller local group that we're now working with to do this.

SRPE, I just heard of. I suppose I'll have to go email them now... Do they even do anything?

Do we even do anything? Oh you bastard! That hurts man!

Of course we do. We do lots of things, including being interested in fansubbing!

^^^ http://www.srpe.org/

The form on the site has 2 posts. I rest my case.

I mean, I'm sorry for being like this. But it's
1. Not listed in NCSU student organizations
2. Doesn't even have direct contact information on the site

Maybe it's a really active group... but the rest of the world would never know this.

This reeks of loser. I went to ONE tass meeting and had to take 2 showers afterward.

*relishes in the ability to watch raws and not contribute to the nerdfest*

Despite what you may think, most nerds have at least self awareness regarding the impression that things like anime showings give off.

TASS used to have a lot more people going to it, and at the time I think it attracted a much more diverse crowd. I've actually taken girls to the showings on a number of occasions. I mean, it was a fun thing to do. Now it's kind of thinned out, and... I dunno.

I think that working to understand the language as a group is certainly more productive and social. If you come to this looking for a bunch nerds, you will be rather disappointed. There are some cute girls from Japanese classes. A lot of them.

Yes, I took Japanese at state, I remember the quality of girls that went to them.

The time I showed up at TASS there were a good 30 people there if not more.

It was *terrifying* and unclean.

And half of them were girls from Japanese class.

Alright, we're about to get into dangerous stereotyping territory here, but...

Most of the girls I've known through Japanese study have been into their own special Japan dorkiness, but it isn't the kind you see at a place like TASS. I have known many that were in love with jrock. Personally, I'm not a big fan of jrock, to each their own, but it seems like jrock brings the girls. Particularly though, there are large cosplay groups around here. There's also the asian drama factor, among other things.

One way or the other, I definitely think there are a lot more girls doing that sort of thing versus watching volumes and volumes of anime, or doing the "otaku" kind of stuff (board games, figurines, you name it).

My point is that the people involved in what we're doing with this fansubbing are as divided and sectarian like Iraq.

And you can't blame TASS for the uncleanliness of the 1402 room, that place is just special.

You totally missed my point, it wasn't the room that was dirty, it was the unwashed bodies in the room that stank of parent's basement.

Are you the guys that were watching anime in bragaw on the giant projector in the fall?

Somebody took that Dirty deeds done dirt cheap song, changed it to dirty deeds done with sheep, and then made an anime music video with it, the music was with anime clips of sheep. From the 5 seconds I actually watched it, there was a shepard using a sheep as a back scratcher or something with a giant drop of sweat on his face.

WTF

^^^Or photoshop all the animation cells so all the eyes are normal size, more than just the mouth moves in each frame, shrink the swords down to 10 yards long or less, and erase all the tentacles.

Its not anime unless the swords are atleast 10 feet long.

Also you need giant sweat drops, and multicolored crazy hair.
