I'm looking to buy a ladyfriend a piece of jewelry for her birthday. Any suggestions/experiences which stores to avoid or stick to?

neighborhood or regionally owned jewelry stores tend to have the best customer service imo but if you're going for a basic jewelry piece any of the chains will do. even if you don't know what you want, if you tell them your budget and some basics they can start showing you things and go from there.

How bad did you fuck up that you feel the need to bribe her with jewelry?

Didn't fuck up, but she made a really big deal about it being her birthday this weekend and since I've missed the previous oh, I dunno... SIX of them I figured I'd get something nice!

Unfortunately I live in Cincinnati so I was looking for a reputable (national) chain of stores so I could buy it here and she could get it serviced there?

Also, what are your opinions on the jewelry maintenance plans most stores sell?

I 'spose I coulda but then she'd have to ship the necklace back to me for service.

I ended up going with Helzberg Diamonds and got this:

I was pretty happy with it, I hope she is!!!
