This kid is awesome.

I have no idea why we didn't recruit him, but neither did anyone else. Davidson got a gem with this guy. I hope Davidson goes far in the tournament.

He was a PG in High School though, probably not a "great" one so he was skipped over by many.

GG Greenberg!

saw this earlier-records of teams in the Sweet 16 vs. other Sweet 16 teams

EAST
North Carolina, 1-0, Davidson
Washington State 0-5 (Stanford 2, UCLA 3)
Louisville 2-0 (WV, 'Nova)
Tennessee 4-1 (W: Memphis, WK, WV, Xavier L: Texas)

MIDWEST
Kansas: 1-1 (Split w/Texas)
Villanova 1-1 (W: West Virginia, L: Louisville)
Wisconsin 3-0 (MSU twice, Texas)
Davidson 0-2 (UCLA, UNC)

SOUTH
Memphis 0-1 (Tennessee)
Mich State 1-3 (W: Texas, L: UCLA, Wisconsin x 2)
Stanford 2-3 (Washington State 2, UCLA 3-interestingly, it would have been 2-4 had Siena pulled it out over 'Nova)
Texas 3-3 (W: Kansas, UCLA, Tennessee, L: Kansas,
Mich State, Wisconsin)

WEST
Western Kentucky 0-1 (Tennessee)
Xavier 0-1, Tennessee
West Virginia 0-3 (Tennessee, Louisville, 'Nova)

I am telling you guys we should have shooed in Bob McKillop while they were playing here and had Curry transfer with him and have 2 years to light up all the ACC teams that didn't give him a chance.

is it inevitable that davidson will get down by a fairly large amount to wisconsin, and will again have to rely on curry to get hot in the second half

It's amazing that Carolina has only one game against the other remaining 15 teams in the tournament all year.

next season in my dreams would have gone like this:

PG - Lorenzo Brown commits
SG - Curry transfers to ncsu
G/F Fells sniper 3 shot improves
F Costner becomes a major inside/outside threat
F/C McCauley continues to improve
C Hickson stays
G Degand shows up playing like it's his senior year

^^^Look at WSU and Stanford, a combined 2-8 against sweet 16 teams.... With 5 combined losses to UCLA. Stanford accounts for the two wins they share, both over WSU haha

I always hated when people named Steven spelled it like Stephen

There's clearly a V sound in there

although Stephen Jackson and Steven Jackson have done alright for themselves

Curry actually wanted to go to VT and all Greenberg would offer was the chance for him to walk-on. Many other coaches looked at the kid's small frame and assumed he would not be able to handle the talent at the major conference level.

I would have walked on at VT if I were him

He easily would have been starting and gotten a full scholarship after one year

and its not like his family couldn't have afforded the year of tuition

YEP. He goes to Charlotte Christian, just like Stephen did. I don't know much about the school or it's program though.

we've had season tickets to davidson for 6 years now and watching this kid is sick. glad he's finally getting some publicity because him and Richards have been dirty all year.

I definitely think davidson is the right fit for him. I doubt he could of ever got time at VT until maybe his junior/senior yr.

Curry's bro is pretty sick too from what I've heard. He is just as small as Stephen was tho.

I saw Johnny Thomas's school (Greensboro Day) beat them for the state championship Curry's senior year. Either he had an off game or improved a ton since then. He only had 13 points, and the defense was focusing on their center (Omar Carter, now a freshman at Charleston Southern).

After the game yesterday, Lefty Driesell came up to Stephen and had their picture taken. That picture should be in the Davidson Hall of Fame some day.

many moons ago, i "worked" at q-zar, a laser tag place that briefly operated in charlotte. i use quotation marks cause i was under age, so they paid me in free games. my sister actually worked there, and i knew most of the staff, so i had a pretty sweet gig.

anyway, dell curry came in and reserved the place for stephen's birthday. this was 10-12 years ago, so i guess he was around 8. dell wouldnt play laser tag, so he spent his time hangin out in the lobby and playin the occasional video game. well, we had a 3 point shootout arcade game that we'd rigged up to play for free, so i had become quite the pro at it. i challenged dell curry to a shootout on it and he laughed and agreed. i ended up winning by a couple shots. he told me we could try it again on a real goal, and we laughed, he gave me a high five of sorts, and that was that.

nothing22 told me i should tell that story.

oh, i also played against dell and stephen at the siskey ymca in mint hill, nc. there's another former hornet that plays there sometimes, but i cant for the life of me remember his name. i've also played with steve smith there. good place to go if you ever want to play against football players or has been nba stars. dell would basically cross half court and launch a 3 every time down if he had the ball. if stephen had it, he'd tell him to score no matter what. i guess preparing him to be the star of the show.
