There are definitely more, but that will suffice. If you consider patriotism the desire to see your country thrive and prosper, then you have some serious explaining to do for the last 8 years. Given the awful results that the GOP have brought about in the past 8 years and your dogged, blind, loyal devotion to the political machines that enable them, how is it that any of you are patriotic?
Yeah, that's right. I'm demanding you defend your patriotism. I'm demanding you defend your love for this country and your love of "freedom" given the gradual erosion of our freedoms and the swift erosion of greatness that America once had.
If you're American Patriots, why is it that you stand idly by watching parties and their groupthink philosophies demonstrably ruin the United States???How are you not the biggest traitors of all?

Good game series. The Political Machine(s) are all pretty impressive interations in a long line of political simulators. Their last version accurately predicted the outcome of the 2004 election- far better than major think tanks and analysts. It even correctly identified Ohio as the pivotal and controversial state, more so than Florida for that election.

The current administration is about to end. I have the confidence in our people and institutions to think that they are liable to set about correcting its mistakes once it's out of the way. Therefore, while some of the problems we face are not light, I believe them to be transient. Furthermore I believe we are coming to re-evaluate how our parties are operated in light of the system's manifest shortcomings of late, and I expect them to adjust themselves accordingly.
As it is I have essentially withdrawn my support from any political party, and while it is true that most of the candidates I support (on this board, through volunteering, and through donations) are Republicans, they are not all so, and I do not believe them to be slobbering lackeys of the current party leadership.3/27/2008 6:09:42 PM |

Oh, I agree with this. I'm just not sure it's going to go in the same direction you might want it to go in. The moderate Republican tradition of Eisenhower, the historical conservatism of Russel Kirk, and the love for all parts of America, especially the natural parts, of Teddy Roosevelt, and the idea of being a faithful steward of the treasury without simply slashing programs or throwing money at problems are past Republican ideals that I wish would be embraced outside of the New England Republicans.3/27/2008 6:53:10 PM |
