or anyone with more design sense than I have...

My friends have some very nice blue leather sofas for sale and I'm in dire need of updating my current furniture. While I prefer neutrals, its hard to find good furniture for less than full price. These sofas are a dark navy blue...I mean navy BLUE blue.

After searching google and not coming up with much of anything, I'm wondering what my design options are for a condo. I can't paint the walls and I have a brown wicker coffee table/side table to work with. The carpet is a light green neutral. No, it wasn't my choice. I hate it. I'd love to put a rug down, but I'm really not sure what it should look like.

Also, what colors go with navy blue? Yellow? What else? I don't want to close up the room with all dark colors (its small enough as it is).

Help!

1. Find six digit color closest to the sofa color on http://html-color-codes.com/
2. Plug number into digital color wheel at http://www.digitalmediaminute.com/color/ and let it choose complimentary colors. Use those colors for your walls, rug, drapes, etc.

Or, to make it easier:
Light tan walls if the room is small.
Chocolate brown walls if the room is big and has lots of light.

How about a couch cover? Just a thought.

Sorry I missed the part about the walls. Are they white now? You can make them feel a different color by painting tall rectangular canvasses in one or two colors and hanging them on any large plain walls (almost like three or four windows being hung on the wall.) That gives the effect of painting the wall and adds some texture/shadows.

For the rug I'd go with something that doesn't have any bold colors. I've never seen green carpet that I really liked, so something more natural would be nice. Bamboo rugs are available from very light to very dark colors and they're pretty cheap. A big natural colored jute, sisal, or seagrass rug would probably be good. Something like these: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-woven-Chaitali-Border-Sisal-Rug-5-x-8/1668737/product.html

Blue and brown is a popular color combination. I'd pair your dark blue with cappucino or wheat colors.

lmao hooksaw my bad! I've had bad experience with covers though They just look so darn good in the magazines... ...but even with batting to fill out areas and rulers to make perfect tucks and creases...I've just kinda given up on them.

^ Ha-ha! Made you laugh!

Yeah, I had problems with "leather" covers, too--you know, moving in weird ways, wrinkling, and so on. How well they work seems to depend a lot on the shape of the couch. But I was just trying to approach your design problem from the perspective of changing the couch instead of changing everything else.

Good luck!

oh, even the microfiber/cotton covers are ridiculously difficult to deal with. I'd just as soon through a sheet over the couch! lol
