3.4 v6 with an obnoxious amount of spray would probably be my weapon of choice. as in big enough you are both amazed and relieved at the end of each pass that the motor didn't start throwing pistons, bolts, and other pieces at you through the hood and firewall.

or, maybe an aluminum headed sbc at the right price.

goal would be 11's for under $2k. maybe one day.

don't worry duke, i've got a hard on for a lot of off the wall moparshit also. like cramming unsuspecting srt motors into scamps and shit.

hell mopar made production stuff that was off the wall enough for me. take the spirit r/t. turbo III, lotus head, gretrag 5 speed, etc. all in an ugly ass 5 door box.

nah, it's a real clean/completely original car. definitely a driver. i'd probably sell the whole car though for the right price. i had 68 newport a few years ago too, i think it was a little better looking/styled car overall vs. the "fuselage" c bodies.
