you could do lots of cool stuff with this...
i'm thinking of making something that turns on the lights, wakes my computer from sleep, and automatically updates my Microsoft Communicator/DND status based on whether I'm in my office or not...
can you guys think of anything else? this is MUCH cooler than rfid 4/16/2008 1:24:22 AM |

i heard the battery in that thing only lasts 3-4 months and then you have to go buy a new one because it's not replaceable... but i must admit i didn't click on that link... yet. 4/16/2008 1:40:56 AM |

Why wouldn't you just by the chips and ICs separately? Seems like it'd be cheaper than buying the Nike thing. 4/16/2008 1:55:41 AM |

because the nike thing already comes presoldered and preprogrammed
have you ever soldered surface mount stuff and programmed PICs? lawl... it ain't fun.
plus it works out of the box
and as far as the battery goes - since i'll be cracking it open anyway, i can obviously replace the battery. 4/16/2008 2:12:36 AM |

i've been using mine for well over a year (admittedly, not every day - but very heavily for a 4 month period last year when I was training for a marathon) and it's still going.4/16/2008 7:52:42 AM |
