Recently I've been having problems with the computer starting up. My operating system is Windows XP SP2. I turn the computer on and it goes through the motions of starting up. All is well, I get to the windows logo and there's a bars scrolling around and around and it gets to the point where windows almost starts up and then bam, it restarts again. It goes like this over and over until I manually shut the computer down. I put in a linux cd to boot up using the disc drive and that works just fine. I also tried to do a windows repair using the windows disc but it turns out i don't know the administrator password so it won't let me repair. I typed in my login password and that appears to be incorrect and I also tried it without a password as well. What should I do? Thanks in advance. 4/20/2008 1:58:06 PM |

Honestly I would just pull the data off and reformat it but you could always use ophcrack to crack the password. I didnt realize to repair it you needed the password. 4/20/2008 5:40:50 PM |

you could call your computer manufacturer and see if they could help troubleshoot it further. they would probably have a masterpassword to override what yours is asking for. 4/20/2008 6:00:52 PM |

did you try leaving the administrator password blank (just press Enter)? Most people don't set the administrator password. 4/20/2008 6:12:07 PM |
