What will give better performance:

2 sticks of 1 GB 800 Mhz for a total of 2 GB

or

The above plus 2 sticks of 512 MB 667 Mhz for a total of 3 GB

BTW, 2 GB should be sufficient capacity. I just want to know if keeping the original 1 GB 667 RAM in my system will actually slow down performance.

so basically either 2GB 800 or 3GB 667.

hmm.... it might depend on what you're doing with your PC. For example, maybe photoshop work would benefit from the larger, slower RAM, but gaming might benefit from the smaller, faster RAM.

Well, I do both of what you mentioned.

But youre saying the ram as a whole would operate at the slower clock speed if I used them together?

yes, they will all be clocked down to the lowest common denominator

Okay, thats sort of what I wanted to know. I'm going to use the faster stuff alone and see if that works out. Thanks
