My uncle has a 1941 Chevy "flat top" that he is interested in selling. Its restored with fresh paint and 350 sb in it, sound system, re done interior, etc.... Runs good, looks pretty good too. He is internet illiterate. Where would I go to sell a classic car like this.

I have no idea how much a car like this would go for.

My uncle said he wants $30k for it, I almost spit out my drink. That seems high, but then again I dont know how much a 1941 car goes for.

Well, it's got the 2-door thing going for it, and the paint/body is nice (assuming no rust)...I wish I knew the market values for these things, but 30,000 seems ridiculous...

30k sounds a bit optimistic to me also. a pristine rod can bring that or more, but this doesn't have the look/quality of a show piece. it looks to be a REALLY nice driver though, and that gains more of my personal respect than a garage queen.

the main issues i see that would set it apart from something bringing top dollar is some general wear/tear on the interior, under the hood. also, while it looks to be more than fully functional and i've seen far worse, there are some minor imperfections in the chop. namely in the A pillars.

there's also the question of is it an all steel car, what's the chassis and rest of the drivetrain consist of, what other body mods, etc. i see some basic smoothing and frenching in addition to the chop, but not much else.

basically, to get a lot of money out of a car from that era it has to be either a full tilt nearly perfect restoration or very custom. you've also put a lot of money into one at that level too. rare helps as well, a 40's tudor/deluxe is a pretty common platform. as far as rods go, this looks to be just a basic middle of the road example. that's not a bad thing, because it'll probably appeal to a much larger crowd. most people want something they can use and enjoy, not lock away for most of the year and crap their pants from worry for the few miles they do drive it.

Ha ha...Yeah, I thought they were familiar the first time I saw them. My 87 Cutlass had the same aluminum trim running up the side and the ribbed cloth bottoms. The center armrest looks familiar too. Not saying they are definitely from a mid 80's Cutlass, but it definitely looks like it.

Yeah the car isnt orginal nor is it perfect. It isnt a garage queen although its in my f'ing swap shop garage at the moment. Taking up all my space!!
