First Official 2009 Nissan 370Z Photos

New car is shorter, wider, lighter, and more powerful than the outgoing model. That should translated to substantially better performance.

It looks a bit retro. I like it.

If the corvette wasn't priced so closely, I'd rock one in a heartbeat...

the only thing wrong with the 350Z was the weight. Now the only thing wrong with the 370Z is the price

How much is it?

Nissan is usually good in the price department.

If I had any interest in a new sports car this would be on the list.

the biggest problem is the exchange rate. I think the other day it was 98 yen to the dollar... it's typically been closer to 115-120

[Edited on October 29, 2008 at 7:11 PM. Reason : same reason the Z32 300zx got so expensive]

My Z32 had depreciated by 85% by the time I bought it, and it was like brand spanking new. The only reason the Z32 never sold worth a damn is because they overpriced it, and they're making the same mistake again.

do the math, sinking dollar + inflation = higher price

I believe the base price for the 370Z is going to be mid 30s, in contrast to the 350Z that was around $26,xxx.

Why can't they offer a decontented model for less, hell even with the less powerful 3.5 liter engine (I know I know they're phasing it out, blah)

New Camaro V-6 should be 300hp in the mid $20,000's. It would be cheaper, but getting 26mpg isn't easy.

I'm kinda pissed that the new Camaro V6 weighs 3800lbs. WTF

They're saying 0-60 in 6.1. WTF, the Z28 w/5.7L and 285hp was throwing down mid 5s.

ACK.

Hey, whts with the red Xs?

Don't know what happened to the pics... when it is revealed officially, there will be better pics around to post from on here. In the mean time, here is the 1st official pic of the NISMO 370Z S-Tune.

Mid 30's sounds fine.

The s2k is old and slow (similiar MSRP).

The 350z is no longer the new nissan hotness.

The RX8 is old, unreliable, and slow.

That is it for Japanese sporty cars.

^ Unfortunately, yes

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is way more exciting than almost all Japanese cars put together. (except for the sporty ones you listed)

Especially with Nissan's newfound love of computer nannies that essentially force you to incriminate yourself.

The thing that bothers me the most about these computers are that they monitor your activities even though you own them. It's akin to having to wear a house arrest anklet simply because you bought a house.

You should be able to disable any computer that tracks your whereabouts considering you OWN THE COMPUTER!

Any word on whether the 370Z will be equipped with the same systems that the GTR is? I can't imagine it wont have the "track sensing" ECU.

The big reason for the Z32's demise is this: not that they overpriced it per se...they overengineered it. The fact of the matter is that the Z32 was known for the longest time as the most complicated Japanese car to reach US soil. And for those of us who have worked on them, well...that bit of info sure seems to correlate with my experience.

Sure there are more seemingly complex systems on the new cars, but modern technology has introduced ways to integrate new ideas simply and seamlessly. 12 to 18 years ago, not so much.

Fuck HICAS. what a waste of everything for marginal benefit. and that's just the beginning.

Note: I'm referring to the gps tracking system and other warranty voiding self-incrimination "features" built into the computer.

That car looks HIDEOUS. They have ruined it with those boomerang looking lights. It was a clean car before.

I'm ok with everything except the front bumper and the huge tail lights. I don't mind their shape, I just think they're a little big.

I guess the little brakelight at the bottom did make it to production

^its probably a fog light. It can't be a brake light, at least not in the US.

I like. I didn't think I'd like the headlights, but I do. I agree the boomerang taillights are a tad too big, however, the lines on this car are VERY sexy.

You guys have GOT to be kidding me about the rear fog light. Why do you think you need a rear fog light? So the other people driving can see you, durrrrrrrrr. That being said, it would OBVIOUSLY be red, lol.

And I know every single person on this board has seen a car with a rear fog light. Just about every BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volvo, etc out there has one. Its just integrated into the other taillights and shines brighter all the time, like a brake light that won't turn off.

the cargo light has been required for US cars since 1985, FYI. Every single production, road legal car in the US has a red cargo or "fog" light on it.

I'm not a car with an asshole son.

The 370Z, on the other hand, most definitely is.

Has anybody heard what kind of warranty voiding computer "aids" will come with the 370Z yet?

white front, rear red. so you can tell your ass from your face in the fog. it simple and it works really well. on the non US cars i drive, they typically come with more than one rear fog light, but for nissan, i guess you have to suffer for fashion.

wat? my 99 protege doesnt have rear fog lights

you are talking about the high mount center brake light, that is required in the us

in europe and japan, rear fog lamps are required, but you usually only have one so that there is no confusion between the brake lights and the rear fog lamp because they are the same power (21 W) versus normal tail lamps that are only 5 W
