In Vista, when I highlight a file and press F2 to rename it, it highlights everything but the extension, as in "index.html". In XP, and all previous versions of windows, it would highlight the entire filename.

i installed ubuntu a few weeks ago and noticed that it does this as well. it's pretty handy.

annoying though when I just want to do that to copy the filename

maybe. either way it's not too much trouble to hit Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow/Left Arrow

i use XP but i replaced windows explorer browsing with this: http://www.gpsoft.com.au/

it does a lot more stuff too but this is one of the nice little things they have thought of
