Just came across that thread on team integra about this build up. Amazing!

Any of you fellas knows this guy since he's located in NC?

Wonder how much something like this conversion goes for...

^how's a 2500lb mid-engined 200hp car a waste? Sounds like a load of fun to me.

The guy who built this lives in NC and his son went to NCSU.

Also I realize this is [old], looks like the car was completed over 2 yrs ago

I saw this guy at Roebling Rd. back in 2006.

I had seen his car from a distance and he had his hood propped up. I made a comment to someone that it would be funny if that Integra was converted to a mid-engine since his engine bay was empty. Later we found out it really was a mid-engine teg. Pretty neat. Never saw him driving it on track though.

Sweet. I haven't been to Roebling Road in years, hopefully will return sometime soon.

The ole GS-R might need a mid-engine conversion!

Get an MR2 turbo, it's close enough.

you can get a 200whp 2100lb mid engined car for under 13 grand if you buy an MR2 spyder.

I don't base car purchases on what my friends drive.

So yeah I wouldn't mind.

you think you can buy an MR2-Spyder, swap a 2zz into it, and then do whatever mods you plan to produce 200 rwhp, all for $13k?

i won't say it's impossible, but i think it would be a stretch.

i tend to agree.

but if its something no one has done, yeah id probably do it.

id swap a small block into my civic just for the coolness factor if i could (i know its been done).

but i agree, you might as well go buy a miata with a turbo on it. save yourself.

I've been looking at them for sale for the last month.

A my2000 with >100k is ~7-8 grand.

You're buying an 8 year old car that doesnt even need a working engine (which these have). They were ~25 grand MSRP brand new.

So yes, I'm not far off (if off at all).

It's doable. The swap isn't too involved.

The alternative is to just turbo the 1ZZ. 200hp on 5lbs of boost is cheap, safe and relatively easy as well.

I'd still like a mid-engined Integra. A mini-NSX! (minus the amazing looks of course, lol).

Other than the absurdity / uniqueness of it, why? What possible advantage would it give you on the track that couldn't be gotten cheaper elsewhere? You couldn't run in the same class anymore, you'd still get killed by any true mid-engined car with similar hp/weight, and it would be a bitch to work on

dude has been featured in superstreet and i think modified mag. He came to Hubert once to talk to a friend of mine who was doing a rwd ls1 prelude. He didnt do it for speed or a "coolness" factor. He did it because it was a challenge and he wanted to. All the people flaming because of how long it took and he could have saved time and money buying a lotus. IF HE WANTED A LOTUS IM PRETTY SURE HE WOULD HAVE BOUGHT ONE. One of the main reasons people have cars like that is because its different and he built it in his own garage.

Building power>>>buying power

FYI, I never said he shouldn't have done it.

I built a similarly ridiculous project car, but I didn't do it with the intention of competition racing (he probably didn't either). But the guys in THIS thread have been talking about it from that angle, in which case yes they would be much better off just buying a car ready to roll.

hell if its like that, then every single one of us is better off buying a car that is ready to roll
