well for most people with at least half a brain, it's not that big of a deal to download and install a program that will make your experience on tww (as well as every other site on the internet) much better.

But then again, maybe you don't meet that strict qualification of having half a brain.

Additionally, things like AdBlock are detrimental to many smaller websites who require the money from those ads to thrive.

Then again, any webmaster with half a brain realizes that annoying your visitors is a bad way to become successful.

No, which is why I never said I did.

Then again, for a while there (when search was dead, pictures were missing, and the server crashed) I wouldn't have been surprised to see them begin running the most profitable ads (ones that make noise, expand, etc.) as a grab what money you can and get off the sinking boat move. Things have seemingly stabilized around here since then, though.

So adblock stops the website for getting credit for the ads that would normally pop up?

^ If it is blocked, nothing is loaded from the advertisement servers, so it won't register any sort of loaded image at all for the site's advertising revenue.

Also, since you block the image, you can't click on it and make the website money, so they don't get money for a clicked advertisement either.

ha. I went to one website and it brought up a popup telling me that their only profits are from ads and I'd have to turn off adblock before I could view their content. I said fuck that and closed it.
