My ex/friend is in the hospital and its scary but hopefully everything will be ok. I want to get him something that will cheer him up and crack him up when he gets out. Real quick he's an ex but he's more than that and the only reason things kinda ended is b/c i moved away, but we've talked about our future together a bit and we both have strong feelings. So he's not just a friend or ex. So I want to get him something good but not too mushy. I need something funny. I've never had someone in the hospital so I don't have any clue. and since he's a guy i am guessing flowers are not the best idea.
thanks. 5/28/2008 6:45:51 PM |

Hm... Get him a stuffed animal holding a card and write "I'm sorry you have aids. :'( At least it's not lupus!!! <3 - You" Or something like that. That would crack me up, but mostly because I like to make jokes about my health all the time (my diabetes and such). It's not always light-hearted humor, so unless this guy is the same way with humor about medical stuff, don't do it, lol.
Really, the gift will probably need to be something that only you would think of as a close friend/ex. Something about an old inside joke or something. Something TWW can't help you pick out. 5/28/2008 6:49:17 PM |

Maybe send candy? I know there are a few chocolate companies that send nice baskets of candy to people at reasonable prices. (Not the candy flower arrangements)
I have spent a lot of time in hospitals and phone calls are better than flowers. I especially like to hear about that person's day or what is going on. Just takes your mind off things. People treat you differently when you are in the hospital or sick, it is nice to have something normal. 5/29/2008 9:29:37 AM |

Hospitals are boring. Book, ear plugs, and some food type stuff. 5/29/2008 11:00:02 AM |

Get a bunch of little toys to keep him occupied - mini cans of play-doh, silly putty, a mini magna doodle or etch-a-sketch, any kind of little battery operated game, barrel of monkeys, a puzzle, a little nerf-gun, that sort of thing. You can get 5 toys for liss than $20. I did that for a friend who had surgery last year, and he loooved it, thought it was so funny.
