Since TWW has a vonage add on it now I am posting my experience with them.

I set up a vonage account with the first month free and was charged a $30 connection charge. I owned all of my own hardware from a previous time I had the service. But, 3 months later after I decided that I didn't want the service anymore because I rarely used it except for faxes, I called to disconnect. After spending 30 mins on the phone explaining that the price wasn't the issue, it's just that I didn't use the service and I wanted it disconnected, THAT is when I found that I was responsible for a $40 disconnection fee. Buried in the terms of service is a clause that states by accepting a promotion you are obligated to keep service for two years or pay a disconnect fee of 40 dollars.

This pretty much means you enter into a contract with them even though they tote no contracts. To be fair, it is a good service if you use the phone alot. But its kind of dirty for VONAGE to utilize these tactics to retain customers. Just be aware if you are thinking about getting a vonage phone.

Since we make a lot of calls outside the US, we have had Lingo for a little over two years. I have been pleased for the most part.

Every few months I'll check to see if anyone is offering a better deal, but I haven't come across any so far.

page not found.

what i don't understand is that all of this is in the paperwork that comes with the service or that you have to print off for your records. why didn't you just read the fine print?

then you could have passed on signing up for their service and saved yourself the trouble of disconnection fees.
