i need 5 more packs (2 in a pack).

I really want S.S. i guess i can do galvanized. Northern just sells galvanized dipped (can i trust that?)

ebay doesnt have much. they have like every size except 3X3

i've always just used the galvanized stuff. i've usually got rid of that boat for another before they rust to shit anyways.

i'm assuming these are for a boat trailer

2, 4, 6, 8 are standard, 3 is usually for boat trailers for some odd reason

galvanized is good enough. it'll rust eventually, but it takes a number of years even with constant exposure to salt water/air.

hit up agri supply or northern though. both of them sell a lot of trailer parts. fleetpride is good for getting custom bent high quality u-bolts, but i don't know that they'd have any galvanized stock. they might have stainless.

well northern had zinc, with galvanized plating. i actually just returned it all because i was going to go with overtons.

i might call the corporate office and let them know that i was there when the price was 12.99 and i had to order 5 and see if they will honor my 12.99 price, instead of the 19.99 price jump.

if thats the case, ill go with that.

you do realize that you are paying over $100 for a little bit of hardware, right? they might be $2 each, tops at agrisupply for zinc ones, you replace them once every 5-7 years, if you keep the thing 20 years, it might pay off then, maybe

i dont get it, the king nigger is paying way too much for something

[Edited on May 29, 2008 at 10:35 PM. Reason : fyi, overtons and west marine are way overpriced for everything]

if it's steel, that's all the trailer is anyway. the only reason i'd really worry about getting stainless is if it's an aluminum trailer.

how much time between you buying them at $12.99 and now? i can't see them honoring the old price unless it's an exceptional situation. it's always worth a try though, all they can say is no.

i'm sure the increase is due to the ridiculous prices of metal, not adjusting for other market trends that might still allow them to work with the price. the last ones you bought they've probably had in stock since their costs were lower. the replacement stock carried a higher manufacturing cost that they have to pass along to customers to maintain the same profit margins.

that said, places like overtons, west marine, etc. are INCREDIBLE rip offs for 90% of their merchandise.

true.

well i walked in there last Friday and there was three packs on the rack for $12.99, i told the guy i need total of 8 packs, so he opened the overtons catalog to order 5 packs and the price sais $19.99.

i walked him over to the rack and surely it said $12.99. it was really odd because all of the other sized were $19.99.

either someone pulled a fast one (and changed the prices for fun)... or i dont know. like you said, maybe to move inventory.

it was an odd situation. i may just keep the 3 packs of stainless.. and probably get 5 packs of the other stuff. galvanized/zinc plated ones.

they havnt called me yet to let me know that my 5 packs have gotten in.
