Quote : | " Dems, GOP squabble over McCain's troop numbers
By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer 21 minutes ago
MILWAUKEE - Republican John McCain's estimate of U.S. troop levels in Iraq touched off squabbling with Democrat Barack Obama on Friday, the latest turn in the presidential rivals' escalating disagreement over the war. ADVERTISEMENT
The likely GOP nominee told an audience Thursday: "We have drawn down to pre-surge levels. Basra, Mosul and now Sadr City are quiet."
Obama responded: "That's not true and anyone running for commander-in-chief should know better."
In fact, U.S. troop levels are not yet down to levels before President Bush's troop increase last year, a strategy shift McCain had pushed for some four years before the president authorized it.
There were 15 combat brigades in Iraq before the increase began. Five were added, and the United States has been reducing numbers since December. As of Friday, there are 17 brigades in Iraq, another brigade will depart in June and the plan is to pull out another in July, returning the level to 15. " |
thats not all the article, it was very long so i didnt want to make the first post of the thread huge, you can read the rest on your own...i bolded the gaffe part

so whats your point? that 17 > 15? i think thats obvious. so McCain was either wrong, or exaggerating.

Obama Seeks to Clarify His Disputed Comments on Diplomacy
Quote : | "'I didn't say that I would meet unconditionally as John McCain maintained, because that would suggest whether it was useful or not, whether it was advancing our interests or not, I would just do it for the sake of doing it,' he said. 'That's not a change in position, that's simply responding to distortions of my position.'" |

At A July 2007 Debate, Obama Announced He Would Personally Meet With Leaders Of Iran, North Korea, Syria And Other Hostile Nations 'Without Precondition':
Quote : | "Question: '[W]ould you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?'
Obama: 'I would. And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them--which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration--is ridiculous.'" |

^ A gaffe is not the same thing as a flip-flop, you fucking retard.
gaffe:

flip-flop:

Obama seems to think Arabic is main spoken language in Afghanistan.
Out of a population of 31,889,923 in Afghanistan approximately 5,000 of its citizens speak Arabic.
Try a quicksearch for the word "arabic" on afghanistans wiki page. You won't find the word once. Where did he get that intel from? 6/2/2008 10:10:53 AM |

I've always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed," he said. "And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I'm sure I'll have more information and will continue to refine my policies."

^ Of course, the Obama campaign has not always said that. Indeed, only a few months ago when he was um still trying to wrap up the nomination, his spokesman said that we would be out in 15 months PERIOD and Obama defended that statement during the debates.
I've already posted this a dozen times and I've been arguing Obama was opportunistically changing his position for months. But these days making your decisions based on polls is considered a virtue. 7/3/2008 10:08:21 PM |

Obama is making a strong pivot to the center, actively courting religious and independent voters. Interestingly, McCain hasn't changed his tone since wrapping up the nomination. If anything, he has tried to move more to the right. 7/4/2008 2:19:47 AM |

here is a HUGE one from Tim Mahoney in Florida:
Quote : | "Looks like one Democratic congressman, trying to highlight his appeal in a red district, took the metaphor a bit too far.
Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) is drawing flak from Republicans for sending out a mailer that includes a photo of a former Soviet soldier alongside pictures of American troops. The mailer, titled “Honoring Those Who Defend Our Freedom,” touts Mahoney’s positions on military and veterans’ issues, including his vote on the National Defense Authorization Act.
But it is one of the images on the front of the leaflet — an elderly Soviet veteran wearing the Order of the Patriotic War — that’s drawing fire from the National Republican Congressional Committee." |

You know, Obama is continually making gaffes such as this. And I probably wouldn't care that much, except the press and their far-left pals have had a field day with Bush's gaffes over the years. But I am concerned that these slip-ups may reveal something deeper.
Presented for your consideration: Obama is not nearly as intelligent as he or the Obamatose would have us believe.
1. By Obama's own admission, his youth was misspent. Obama often drank and used drugs.
Question: How did he manage to get into an Ivy League school?
2. Obama was a constitutional law professor. Obama was a lecturer, which was adjunct, from 1992 to 1996. He was a senior lecturer, which was not adjunct, from 1996 to 2004 and taught three courses a year.
Question: What academic works did Obama publish? A book or books? A paper or papers? Did he generate anything that could be considered scholarly work during his time at the University of Chicago Law School?
