can't help with troubleshooting. But when I was in the Army we trained with NVG, man your depth perception is really off till you get the hang of it. Can't tell you how many times people ran into the vehicle infront of them 5/30/2008 8:39:32 PM |

Which generation of NVG is it?
You may be best off contacting the manufacturer for repairs/advice. However if you do find an answer, please share. 5/30/2008 11:32:17 PM |

I work in R&D at the largest US Night Vision company (ITT Night Vision), but I only have experience with gen 3 military grade image intensifier tubes.
Can you better describe the output of the tube? Are the green dots steady or do they "twinkle"? If you shake the tube do the green dots move? 5/31/2008 9:55:20 AM |

^^^I have experience with using gen 1 through gen 3 military NVGs, and this is not normal operation. I can't speak for anything civilian though. 5/31/2008 5:50:10 PM |

finally got an image thru it. the intinsifier tube may be shot cause it will not pick up much ambiant light. i can see maybe 10 feet with the ir on. any ideas? 5/31/2008 6:57:30 PM |

Unfortunately for intensifier tubes without Automatic Brightness Control, which im pretty sure commercial tubes would not have, a bright source can kill it. The only thing you can do is leave it alone and some of the response could come back.
Without more information I cant tell you whats wrong with the tube, but theres not much you could do to repair it anyways. 5/31/2008 11:14:40 PM |
