I'm a fan of the Wolfpack from the kickoff of football and soccer to the final out of the baseball season. Last nights NCSU vs USC baseball game has to be one of the better games I have seen in any sport. My other favorite moments in no order,

football

NCSU 24 FSU 7 (9-12-1998)
NCSU 34 FSU 28
NCSU 17 FSU 7 (2002)
NCSU vs UNC 2000 (Rivers catches TD pass for first score of the game)
NCSU 28 Notre Dame 6
NCSU 23 Texas 20

basketball

WF vs NCSU 2004 in Raleigh (Pack comes from 18 down at the half to take the leade and win by 4 with two 3 pointers in the final minute of regulation)
NCSU vs UNC 2007
Both wins vs Duke at the RBC Center
NCSU vs WF 2008 in Raleigh
NCSU vs Miami 2008 in Raleigh

soccer

NCSU vs UVA 1990 NCAA Tournament (Pack wins a shootout to advance to the final four)
NCSU 2 UNC 2 2005? (a last second goal in regulation ties the game after UNC scored on a free kick 45 seconds earlier)
1990 NCSU 4 Duke 2 (The first time I ever went to see the Wolfpack play any sport)
1998 NCSU 2 UVA 1 (NCSU scores game winner as the clock runs out)

baseball

NCSU 5 vs USC 4 (Last Night)
2004 NCSU 1 Texas 0, NCSU 2 Texas 0 (The only time ever that Texas has been shutout at home in a doubleheader)
The last 3 NCSU vs ECU games at Doak Field
2005 NCSU vs FSU (NCSU sweeps FSU in a double header at Doak to end the season)

2000 - NCSU & GT on Thursday Night on ESPN, game went to triple OT, we won, and tore down the goalposts and carried them down Hillsborough.

I think that was the last time they came down by the hands of fans, too

other than the victories mentioned....
when we came back to beat Randel-El and Indiana-> PRiv's fresh yr
when PRiv and KRob came back to beat Minnesota in the bowl game
when Marcus Melvin hit a half court buzzer beater to defeat Clyde Drexler's Houston team (rubbing in 83 once again)
JHodge's revenge on UConn in the tourney
T.A. against Texas Tech cerca 2001
NCSU at VT 2004, one point Marcus Stone victory

^^^ That was my freshman year. It was my first NCSU football game ever. I still remember Rivers throwing a touchdown to back corner of the end zone. Man that was a good time.

^ T.A. against Texas Tech was the 2002 Gator Bowl season.

1998 State over UNC at the Dean Dome ranks up there.....CC Harrison went off for like 30 with 9 3s and we won 86-74 or something like that....

The baseball double-header sweep at Texas in 2003 I think was sweet as well.

Football: how could you all leave out BC 2005 with Daniel's Hail Mary??

Also State UVA in 2003? was the best football game I have ever been to when we won something like 45-31 because Victor Stephens (maybe?) intercepted and returned a Schaub pass with like a minute to go..

That's my absolute best sports memory as a student.

The UConn win was good, but the building during that comeback was fantastic,

The NIT game in Reynolds was pretty fantastic, too, and taught me a special lesson about State fans. After that first technical call I went absolutely berserk and was screaming at the top of my lungs over the rail when I realized that I was basically screaming into the ears of an elderly couple that were seated across the aisle from me. I calmed down pretty quickly and apologized to both of them, particularly the woman. I had my hand lightly on her shoulder as I apologized, and she just her hand on mine, looked me in the eye, and said, "That's all right, son. They need as much help as they can get."

The 2002 smack down of Clemson at Death Valley on a Thursday night in Death Valley. We were 9-0 and we would crack the top ten after this win. This was back when we actually liked Chuck's one liners and I think it was Herbstreet that told him that there were lots of people in New York, Chicago, and LA who were calling the team phony because they hadn't played anyone. Chuck shot back, "well there are certainly a lot of phonies in those places!" haha. Vintage chuck. I also remember Terrance Holt blocking some kicks in that game and Jerricho running back an onside kick after their lone score. Obligatory pic of Clemson kid crying must be posted!!!!!!!!!!

That also happened the next year when they played us in Carter-Finley. I covered that game for the newspaper.

B.J. Symons threw for ~600 yards, Rivers threw for more than 500 and Josh Brown ran for more than 100 after T.A. (not surprisingly) pulled up lame after a long run.

the football win at VT.....beating Duke in basketball in the RBC center-fuck you Mike Dunleavy....

but the moment that captivates my best sports memory has to be the NIT Game against Marist, after those pansy ass referees called that bullshit technical on Costner...and all 12, 500 Wolfpackers made it a point to scream so loud that our yelling alone would cause the ball to bounce on the court.

I was sitting beside this father/son and during this one hard foul by a Marist fan where the ref's didnt see the call him and his son starting throwing the finger and popcorn towards the Marist bench...

..God I miss my 4.5 years at State...it went by too fucking fast.....but I enjoyed every fucking minute of it!

Didn't get much better than the FSU football game of 2002. Rushed the field after the game -- on second thought, we might have rushed it while the game was still going on. Anyway, I climbed up on one of the goal posts, fell off, and was caught by 20 people down below. Good times.

Sadly, it was my freshman year. Football was all downhill from there.

apart from what has been mentioned:

When we beat UConn in football on an INT return for a touchdown, that was one of the most excited I've been in carter finley, despite it being UConn, hah. I feel like it was Aughtry-Lindsay on the pick six?

The most excited I have ever been was the Garland Heath interception in the end zone at GT a couple years ago.

I'm from Maryland. Hodges last year 3 friends of mine, who go to UMD, came down to see the game. I believe for a lot of the second half we were up by 30 or so. Complete domination. Just to see those 3 have no fun whatsoever was great.

Oh, and the first half against Miami 4 years ago when we were up. Night game, Hester ran back the first kick for a TD. Anyway, when we went up in the first half it was pretty nuts.

Basketball
2007 vs. UNC
2008 vs. Miami
2008 vs. WF
NIT vs. Marist in Reynolds. That place was NUTS. I really enjoyed at the very beginning, pre-warmups, one of the Marist scrubs was out shooting around. He was the only guy on the court. Every time he missed, the crowd went crazy cheering, and everytime he made it we booed like he just kicked a puppy. Good times.

football vs fsu in 2001, i was part of the small NCSU contingent at that game, which i believe was our first win over fsu on their field.

basketball vs uconn in worchester for the 2005 ncaa tourney, was right behind the basket as julius layed up the game winning basket

I really didn't think anyone got "excited" about that play (it was FAL). I don't know how to describe the emotions of that game. Everyone was pissed off for the first 59:30 and people were still pissed off after the game. I have never seen the crowd so despondent, even after the game was over.

I actually had a weird vibe that State fans actually wanted State to lose this game, I'm not sure why.

^That was a good one. Don't forget the 1997 Syracuse game. They fumbled on about the 5 yard line with under a minute to go and we recovered to make it to OT. Then we chose to go for 2 points instead of the extra point and tie in OT. We scored and won!

the best for me was the 17-7 win over FSU...i had driven down from Norfolk on weekend leave from the ship...after some serious message board wrangling, we were able to get enough gen admission tix for student tix to get a bunch of us in. sat in the upper deck student section after a great day of tailgating. rushed the field with the students and still have some end zone grass

When do they announce which mens basketball game will be played in Reynolds for the 08-09 Season?

B/C I think it may be very hard to find a game that matches the level the Wolfpack fans were at with the NIT Marist game....god it was fucking INCREDIBLE....old/young people half standing on their seats, little kids saying fuck you to the refs and willing our squad to victory.....man I cant wait for this years football and basketball season!
