I stayed at "A Place At The Beach" when I was there. They had great wireless coverage for free to people staying there. I should have written down the login info.

our house is on the sound side, and we're not big layinthesunallday beach fans, so we don't spend a whole lot of time actually in the sand. we'll take the dogs for walks in the morning on the beach though.

we swim, go for boat rides, jet ski, kayak, fish, go crabbing, swim, surf fish, go to this insanely nice [plant] nursery on 24 b/w cape carteret & morehead city, fish, eat at kathryn's, fish, and swim.
dad's always got some project around the house, like rebuilding the entire deck, so if we get really bored we can help him.

We usually go to EI several times a summer. The first thing we always do when we get there, sometimes even before we get to the house, is stop at Flippers and get their seafood bisque. It is seriously off the hook.

At night we usually go to Emerald Club or that bar that used to be Punky's, not sure what the name is now. Hurricanes or something like that. It's in the same strip as Flippers.

If we go late enough in the year that college football has started, we go to this sports bar and watch games. Again, I don't know the name of it, but I think it is the only one on EI.

I've been going to EI all my life. The most consistently good seafood place around IMO is T&W Oyster Bar and its not even on the island. Its a short drive from the bridge and down past the Golfin' Dolphin. Ive always had good service there and the batter they use on their fried seafood is perfect.

As for the Sanitary: Wayy over priced. If you think about it, most of the seafood is the same especially if its fried. Sanitary is nothing special at all. I dont think it sucks, it just offers the same food as other seafood joints but for a lot more money.

Please NEVER EVER got to Captain Bill's aka Captain Racist's. I'll never forget one time I went there with my family on a weeknight and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated and a waiter promptly came to our table and took our orders. While we were all eating, a black family came in and they were seated a few tables down. About ten minutes went by...no service. Then maybe another 5-10 minutes...still no service. If I remember correctly my dad asked why they weren't being helped and the waiter gave some answer to basically dismiss the subject. I dont know that anything ever really came of the situation because were finishing up our meal and headed out. It was pretty apparent though that they werent getting service because they were black.
