So, I got the 48 hour notice that they're coming to redo all the plumbing, and quite frankly, it looks like it's going to be a pain in the ass since i have to empty every closet, the bathroom, the kitchen, and the laundry room. I was wondering if anyone else had already had their's done and if it really was a giant pain?

we've already had it done--the water was off from like 9-5 for one day, so it wasn't that big of a deal

cheap college apartments but not so cheap that there are minorities walking around the place shirtless with their children as your parents drop in for a visit. beware the first level... the bugs will swallow you alive. The ants have a mind of their own and a thirst for blood. I dare you to throw that half eaten donut under the bed. i DOUBLE dog dare you 6/4/2008 2:43:59 PM |

I lived there for 3 years. 2003-2006ish. It wasnt too bad, except that girl was murdered next door. And our place was completely flooded. So after some bickering/threats, they moved me to a new place for free. This was much nicer near the woods, so we didnt have a lot of foot traffic. But then the pipes burst again above us (ground floor both times). Bugs were never too bad, but occasionally a roach or spider, no ant infestation. Then they tried to make me pay 400 for new carpets as I moved out, so I almost took them to small claims court but they backed off. I was really happy with the rest of my life when I lived there so the little things never bothered me. 6/4/2008 3:21:28 PM |

Just had mine done, it was a pain in the ass. They started last Wednesday, and just finished yesterday. They had to cut 12 holes in the walls/ceiling. 6/4/2008 7:42:52 PM |

Do it. I just had a friend at work who lost all her shit due to her apt at Dominion Walnut Creek overflowing. They weren't even helpful, all her stuff smelled like poop and they made her move it out with little notice. 6/4/2008 9:19:50 PM |

^ well the thing that sucks about this..is that i close on my house next thursday. and although i wasnt planning on totally moving out until mid july when my lease is up, i could have atleast had somewhere to move my shit to....but noooo they said it couldnt wait and had to be done as scheduled.

^ well..what was supposed to take 3-5 days ended up taking nearly 2 weeks. They caused damages that they won't fix (and i'll be damned if im paying for them when i move out in 3 weeks) and i ended up with a 300$ bill for boarding my pets for that long.
all in all...it pretty much sucked and i cant wait to get out. 6/29/2008 10:31:39 PM |

^Thats why you buy renters insurance. Pipes busting and neighbors letting their toilet, sink, or bath tubs run over, is a very common occurrence. 6/30/2008 9:41:50 AM |

yea, i had renters insurance. except i have a 500 dollar deductible, and the 2 inchs of water did nothing except soaked the carpets. soooo the main inconvenience was having to move.
they tried to keep me in the same place without changing the carpets (gasp MILDEW/MOLD), but eventually they moved me into a new place. 6/30/2008 9:48:23 AM |
