More of a video game cliche, but I'm sure games just ripped it off from movies...

There are two people in a war zone communicating over a device that has a lot of static/interference. These people are trying to meet up. One character says "What ever you do don't go to place X" because it's swarming with enemies but the static only allows the other person to hear "... you ... don... go to place X." The person then says "go to place X, got it" even though it's painfully obvious they were saying don't go there - even with the static. Communication then drops out completely.

Of course all radio communication is completely restored once the guy arrives at place X so they can here the other person say "I said DON'T go, it's a death trap." Then you spend the next 10 minutes fighting enemies.

This happened in Red Faction: Armageddon and was really eye roll inducing because I think the exact same scenario played out in one or more recent games, I want to say Dead Space 2 and some other game.

Haha, a dude here has that same set up, but it looks so out of place because the rest of his office looks like a dorm room. Kinda hard to look baller pouring a drink in between a dirty gym clothes bag and a Pedroia fathead.

After watching HP7:2

Someone jumps and attempts to grab onto the ledge, but you don't see it and they just show the ledge for a few seconds... Then the person's hand appears and they climb up

Every movie set in NYC has a scene with two main characters jogging thru central park

^ That reminded me of another one

When it shows someone going through a park or some other area and the seasons are changing (think Charlotte running in the first Sex and the City movie)

Just because you put colored leaves or snow around the character doesn't mean all the trees in the background look like that season -.-

The whole saying ridiculously offensive and crazy things to a person who is obviously focused very hard on something else and not listening to the comments. It usually goes on for quite some time...

"I banged your mom last night"..."huh? oh that's cool"...

did anyone ever post about a person seemingly going to NYC for the first time and they stand in Times Square looking around while the camera pans in a circle around them?

In a similar vein, time lapse skyline shots of sunrise/sunset.

That's more of a reality tv gameshow cliche. Like in the apprentice they always do this to convey the time before the boardroom segment starts.

Anytime there is an English soldier fighting alongside Americans in a WWII movie, he has a really thin mustache and a beret.

Nerdy dude goes on a date with a girl that he likes. A bumbling friend friend or two follow behind and watch from a distance to provide support. Nerdy guy has an earpiece and is repeating things to say to the girl when a dog comes up to the friend who says something like "Wow you're a furry little guy!" which is repeated by nerd to the woman.

A hot girl is put in weird clothes and glasses and acts awkward. She gets a makeover and everyone at high school is shocked even though it was obvious she was hot already.

some 2nd or 3rd rate character has an important task/job that is mission critical, but ends up being fatal to them the second after they accomplished their task. Usually accompanied by slow-mo or some sort of camera/post processing trick

It's not really a cliche, but I ended up watching The Matrix for a few minutes on AMC the other night and noticed:

shotgun recoil at 2:00.

during an interview or meeting w/ a girl's dad or something, the main guy lies about going to some school, etc to another older guy that claims to have gone to that school, etc and the older guy asks the guy about a professor that might still be there and the main guy is like "yeaaaaaaah Dr. Stone's doin great...." and then the older guy asks something specific about the professor and so on

Whenever a character farts, they always make an exaggerated face or body gesture.

In real life, you can be subtle as fuck.

People do that to move the tablet to the back of their mouth so it's easier to swallow. It's not a movie cliche.

I do the pill thing

I thought of another one today, not sure if it has been mentioned - a father hates the new boyfriend, fling, fiance', husband, whatever... but by the end, the male friend sticks up and has this speech then everything is A-OK (or they work together and then you get the speech)

What exactly does jerking your head in that fashion even do? When I put a pill on my tongue, its not going to move anywhere without some considerable effort - and definitely not from jerking my head

I think this is just something you saw people do in the movies when you were a kid before you started taking pills, and thought it looked cool so you have done it ever since

I take about 4 pills every morning (a few of them being "horse pills") so I guess it helps me get them down easier in one gulp

The head tilting occurs after getting a mouth-full of water. The tablet is denser than water, therefore it sinks to the back of your mouth. Conversely, if I take a capsule, which usually contain an air pocket, I tilt my head forward so it floats to the back of my mouth. Simple physics. If the pill moves to the back of my mouth by itself, I don't do the head-tilt. If I don't do the head tilt, sometimes when I swallow, the pill will not get swallowed, or halfway swallowed, possibly causing me to gag or choke. It is not some stupid habit, and I'm surprised there are people who find this practice alien and worthy of derision.

When someone is trying to stop an out of control train/bus/plane whatever and they pull the ONE GODDAMNED LEVER that will stop it and it snaps off, forcing them to delay the movie another 30 minutes...

^^maybe people have figured out how to take a pill without the air pocket. it's simple physics!

Overly dramatic police command fights in hostage situations. Usually entails a lot of chest-thumping, cussing, spitting, pushing and shoving, where overly aggressive cop alludes to the good cop screwing something up in the past.

It's usually followed by the bad cop going behind the good cop's back to order a hit.

As seen in John Q, The Inside Man, The Negotiator, Phone Booth, etc.
